My school chum, and best friend challenged me to write a better story than he can, starting with an old joke about a turkey. We both knew the joke and it had to be included in the story. Here is mine: A couple of days ago I looked out the back window, and there were about a dozen hen turkeys, well probably eight of them, mooning over a truly magnificent tom. Trying to figure out what other categories might work better for me than “pets”. “Humor” comes to mind. Then I wonder if I’m going to have to break into a huge bunch of big fish, in a big pond with thousands of choices. Or, a small pond with old jokes, low standards and VERY few readers, who are probably at work, with nothing better to do. Which alternative would be worse? Everything else? What does that mean?
