Long morning...

I had an email from my sister today, the one in Estes Park who has been looking after Mom the past several years and who rarely makes contact. Things have changed, the next step taken. Mom, now approaching 92, has been moved to a facility where she can be cared for properly, and 'round the clock. Julie, who is 70 now, finally reached the realization that she simply can't be there all the time, can't provide the physical care Mom sometimes needs--like being lifted off the floor when she has... The wind is blowing fiercely

I don't know if a dove just flew or blew past the deck. They say 40% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, and winds 18-21 mph. I am going to get an anemometer one of these days, it would be interesting to know how fast the winds actually blow along here. Sometimes they are out of the north and east. Sometimes, from the west out of the mountains. I don't worry about trees or branches coming down because the winds are frequent enough, the trees know all about it. Any weakness has already been... End of one life, start of another

Charlie, youngest of my three, graduates from University of Colorado, Colorado Springs on May 22. His days as an undergrad are nearly done, and he has no plans nor funds to seek a master's degree any time soon. He will continue to seek work, but now, paying work, in local theater, and aim for the New York theater scene probably in a year or two. Pitchforks and Hammer Handles!

The kids played a set on Saturday and another today at the StarFest, the annual convention in Denver for sci-fi geeks, nerds, and costumers. I wasn't there for Saturday's, but today's was a treat! I am miffed I actually forgot my camera, but another of their friends brought his, and filmed it. Hopefully his results are good, and he will share. Almost a summer day...

The kind we most love in summer: warm and not yet hot; the sky blue with some clouds gathering that might turn interesting later. Across the street, the neighbor in his shop is using a power saw in short whining bursts. His dog is quiet, that's a mercy. When he drives off for long times, he leaves the pooch--a standard poodle--in the back yard, and the dog barks until he returns. Another theatrical moment

Last night was the Senior Capstone Class One-Act Plays production. The capstone class is a new one that all graduating seniors will take from now on, completed with a recital where they have the opportunity to show what they have learned. Too bad some blew it off, like the one writer/director who got so far as writing and auditioning, but held virtually no rehearsals, so at the last minute, changed the concept to improv, and left it all on her actors to sort it out. There was an ad posted in craigslist about the sale over the weekend, and another interested party called and arranged to come looking at costuming yesterday evening, and this raised the net sales by another $43, and a question: Would I be interested in going back into the costume business again on a larger scale. The Sale Goes On

With everything shifted into my garage, Charlie didn't do much to draw in crowds, just notified some theater and gaming friends of his, that there were things they'd find interesting. And so they did: he made another $100. And now the day is chilly but sunny, and he has all the day to be here, he's going for one more try. Yesterday was interrupted by clowns. Day Two, not a good one for sales in the yard

It is chilly, windy and wet. Not a day I would go saling, myself. Instead, I am sitting here with my Mexican 'scramblet,' the one made with cornchips, salsa and eggs, with avocado sliced over the top. It's a scramblet because sometimes eggs break and omelettes do not fold. It tastes just the same, and wouldn't be pretty on the plate for long, anyway.
