I want to thank those of you who have left a name for the Cook Book. Please keep leaving them when you think of one. The progress got a slam down today so I will keep you informed. A test kitchen without a stove is a somber sight. Today was a real kicker. A friend had surgery yesterday and today I made a huge pot of soup, that kind my mama called 'defrost day soup', everything you had in the fridge that was not a cooked left over went into the soup. I found wonderful goodies. I made the big pot... Sign in to see full entry.

TAPS ASKS 'HAVE YOU NAMMED THAT CHILD YET?' NO! HELP!
Many years ago my husband and I owned a catering company in Atlanta, GA named Purple Tomato. It was successful, that was then and a cook book of the same name would have sold well. I tried to get the time to write one but simply didn't find it. I would have used only the cool foods of the day then, now I need to be more prudent of my age and comprehensive on today's cookbook shelf. Well I think I do, I am I will! I will never write another cook-book. It would take such a little time to write a... Sign in to see full entry.

Things they are a moving along too fast
All my categories are laid out and many ready to be filled in, some are already. Now each and every dish must be proved again. I am loving it, yet I am stressed. It takes twice as long to cook a dish if you have to measure each ingredient, mark it off as matching the amount on the recipe and looking for any changes in look, taste, texture or whatever! My daughter said "Mom you need a notation about how it should look, texture on your tongue, etc.". "Sweetheart you have just been promoted to... Sign in to see full entry.

Oh I simply had the best day!
Today is my birthday or was. My husband, children and friends made it splendid. My husband of 26 years, the one God put into my life in a most unusual manner. He you know is working with me on the Cook Book! He did one of our recipes for a cake from scratch. It was awesome, texture wonderful, taste, flavor totally without fail and he cleaned up. All the daughters called. George took me out to do some things we needed to do and had wanted to for some time. We also went looking into the printing... Sign in to see full entry.

YOU ALL BELONG TO AN ACE TEAM
Thank you so very much. You encourage me unbelievably; but you are so special. Hey just how could we all do a tasting on Blogit? I am truly blown away that you are behind me on this project. I am always getting a project concept but after I retired I have not been able to truly get on board enough in any one of those projects to be excited enough to finish it. This is so different, I am on schedule about ten hours a day getting the sorting, cooking, testing, categorizing, and indexing. It is a... Sign in to see full entry.

Okayyyyyyy
My husband and my daughter have come on board and finally my cookbook is going to be a reality in less than a couple of months. Talk about self publishing, well we are doing that on steroids. We are doing all the work ourselves. My husband, George will be the photographer, editor and my daughter will be the publisher. She is experienced in doing up to 300 or so page presentations and buying the paper, binders those kind that are like claws you know. I am so excited. I have all the separators and... EARTHQUAKES AND TSUNAMIS
Natural disaster a ll over the world is becoming a collective pain. It is an opportunity to help one another. The hands and purses have been opened toward Haiti, but the efforts were often halted, stopped and misdirected because of the devastation and poor organization. It is better and more is being done. I personally believe good will come from all of this. Haiti has been a pool of horror, dirt, crime, corruption and the horrors of hunger, disease. The horrific conditions are not a great deal... MATH I HATED ALL SORTS OF THINGS THAT WENT WITH IT
It is quaint to me that people have to put numbers in a cruncher and run them like a batch of carrots in a blender to come up with a common sense answer. I am not talking about great and glorious scientific discoveries, but that appears to work as well. Remember the guy who used magazine articles, tid bits of stories, newspaper clippings and landed it into the Scientific Academia for Global Warming joke until he was found as one of the book cookers. Sounds like the mentality of a meth cooker... Sign in to see full entry.

WHEN BREAKFAST IS WAY PAST BRUNCH
My husband works in the evening so breakfast is often around noon or one o'clock. I cook whatever is available and on the want to chart for the day. Today I made breakfast in one pan. Easy and totally good. I broke into small pieces three sausage slices, chopped a full cup of yesterday's baked ham into a tiny chop, added finely chopped onion drizzled a little olive oil and seasoned a bit more with red pepper flakes and set it to simmer. I boiled potatoes and mashed them lightly so they were... Sign in to see full entry.

SATURDAY NIGHT SUPPER let us make it colorful! Tomato Catsup is mostly what we see and use today. This was certainly not the original catsup. In fact tomatoes came into use late down the line because of their abundance. In the late 1800s catsup was made from plums, apricots, and a myriad of other fruits and vegetables. When tomatoes were finally used they became the most popular of them all. I decided to develop recipes that would work with our taste directions of the present and created three... Busy, Busy, Then What?
I am working on recipes and testing them for my new cook book. I will be broad as a barn if I test all these myself. I am cooking daily on something new. Today I made an easy one and good for the cold days of Winter. Pimento ~ Cheese Potato Soup it is really good and it is pretty as well. What I am working on now is HOME MADE BISCUITS ~ Add water only! I just made a batch which we will have with LEEK and French Tarragon soup tonight. This is fun but not when you strike out. It is sorta like... Sign in to see full entry.

WELL HERE IS SOME HISTORY FOR YOUR
It has been eight days since I wrote on this blog. I got a flood of viruses and they just moved in like no tomorrow. They are all gone I am glad to say. I took the computer away and I have been staying very busy to keep away from the withdrawal pains. I have missed all of you. I did not e mail anybody so as not to send along my viruses as soon as I knew I had them. I am looking forward to reading all of you and to writing a lot as well. Just wanted to touch base and let you all know I am home... Sign in to see full entry.

DID ANYBODY LIVE BACK THEN, REALLY THAT LONG AGO?
If your family is one of pack rats, historians, story tellers, keepers of family stuff, treasures and junk you have been where I have been this week. I have been digging through acid riddled papers, dust, disbelief and all sorts of things. I am tossing and saving according to interest. I have letters dated back into the 1840's and I am sure some are earlier if they were dated. Some of the way people lived is truly funny. Other ways are so sad. To witness through these letters the difference of... Sign in to see full entry.

WHAT IS ALL THIS ABOUT AND WHY
I am loosing my game day by day. What is my game, it is for the eyes of all to be opened to justice for all. It is so hurtful and sad to see persecution and lies drowning the Christians, the Jews and the poor world wide. No one appears to object when people falsey accuse or whatever they do to any Christian. They will get in your face so fast they put a blister on it leaving if you point out truth or lies that do not fit with the liberal or progressive agenda. People had a great laugh and lots... Oh what a fun day!
I was invited by a columnist friend to come read, listen or whatever, to a group of writers she was getting together to determine if there was enough interest to keep a writing group going. George and I both were invited. He writes music - lyrics and music- we found it to be delightful and it appears the others did as well. We will be doing this twice a month. I was so surprised our town has a population of 7,000 of so and we had nineteen people there. She had expected only half dozen or so,... Sign in to see full entry.

WHEEE I CAN WALK THROUGH MY HOUSE IN LESS THAN AN HOUR
I took it all to Salvation Army. I took the cook books from 1932, the tapes, records and DVD that have not been listened to or watched in years. Oh I found the children's original birth certificates, how about that? Come on now I am not the only one who has some cobalt blue glitter from those table decorations New Years Eve 2000! Have you kept every single refrigerator decoration a grandchild sent you? Oh how I am finding I am not nearly as unique as I thought. I have been working for a week on... Sign in to see full entry.

IT IS GOING, THE WHOLE KIT AND CABODDLE!
Now that I have nothing to do but live and find a way to bring in some cash I am cleaning out the junk. I do not buy much. I didn't see myself as one who held on to so much stuff but it became very clear when I had to buy containers, under bed bins on and on to store junk. Then came getting all the bookcases built and some prefabs for books, books, and books. Yes I love the books. I already gave away three of those Encyclopedia set thingies. Who is going to read them? I can google even my... Sign in to see full entry.

GLAD THAT IS FINISHED
I say finished, there is one hitch to that. I have to die to finish the thing off, but that could wait years and be no problem for me. I don't anticipate any new statistics. No new achievements if there are they are unimportant in my Dying Information. It is a beautiful day here in the deep South. Sun is shinning and birds are skimming my lawn for bits and pieces of left over pecans. The cat watches them with great interest but not enough to go outside and bring an end to all that festive... JUST HOW SAVVY ARE ABOUT YOUR FUTURE?
I mentioned I was taking care of my burial information etc.,. Well have you ever sat down and took stock of you, your history, your reality? If you haven't and you choose to do so I hope for your sake your history is as sweet smelling as a rose, as beautiful as the most exotic orchid and as tasty as a sweet ripe peach. Mine did not meet these requirements. Let us look at the truth. Your friends and your enemies do not want to totally know you. Unless one is in competition for your money or fame...
