A DAY OR SO IN MY LIFE! WHO CARES?

This is Dauphin Island in the southern most point of Alabama. It is a beautiful place mostly residential and some condos that rent but no hotels. It has been one of my favorite places for more than 50 years. It is not only still pristine but an odd thing has been happening for about ten years. The Island is growing. Here are flowers to all of you from my garden. The pink little roses are heirlooms that have been on this property for more than a 100 years just as has the house. We are having guest over tonight and tomorrow morning it is off to the coast. So enjoy the flowers while I am away. I shall miss all of you. This is for a little get-together for George's birthday. I am planning a big surprise for him and everybody in the family knows but him. I look at age and I am confounded at what it is. To the younger 'old' is a group of negative circumstances that they do not want or understand: Wrinkled, shorter than when you were younger, not as sharp, not as quick, not as pretty or handsome, not only not as interesting but not interested, not hip and with it. Nashville, TN is a city in the neighborhood of cities where I live. I am about equidistant to Nashville, Atlanta, Chattanooga and Birmingham and this flood is like home almost. The incredible loss staggers the imagination. They had minutes not hours warning, everything went. I found right off the bat I did not have enough Basil of any kind and we sewed seeds a few weeks ago and now I have Basil growing everywhere. This is one of my favorite herbs. I use Thai, Sweet, Lemon, Purple and more and use all of them for more than their beauty. I could never have enough Pesto. The beautiful jellies are a piece of art in their fabulous colors of purple and green. Well this week could drive the weak to suicide quickly. It has worn both George and I to a frazzled threadbare string of hanging on to this point. We are newbies in the lap-top owner generation.
