Today I began my holiday work. I need to begin a little business again. I am doing baskets, boxes and single items for sale and I have to test them all out. Some will be local only and some will be available mail order. I just did lovely stuffed apples. I took the core out, stuffed them with nuts and fruit, a little brown sugar and cimmimon and baked them. Yes this is our little warrior, Marmalade. She chases birds, squirrels and anything that moves. She manages to get to the highest place available and sleeps for another try at slaying the beast of the yard. Of course as you can see she is sleeping right in the middle of work projects. This jug was made by my great aunt. It is in a pottery sale establishment now. They did such wonderful work. I am very proud of it, but I can't do any, nada! I MADE A NEW BISCUITE RECIPE We are not all fat down South, no not by a long shot, but we love our Saturday morning breakfasts. George loves for me to bake biscuits but I don't do that too often anymore because we do the high-fiber breakfasts mostly. My family on both sides have very long life spans. Six years ago in a jail ministry I was working I led a young woman to Christ. She promised me she would try out Celebrate Recovery when she was out of jail. This is a National Program covered through churches to help heal the behavior that has been brought into play while on drugs or alcohol or any other addiction. I got out of bed today and it felt cool, real cool. So I did my dining table scape and thought this is more like it. I don't like Halloween since it is for all sorts of things other than cute little kids running around collecting candy. People are so crazy they will harm little ones. George and I went walking along the lake trail this morning and there was the most beautiful sight. Thousands of Canadian geese had made a stop over. We are told they do this every year. We have some of our own. This was such a gracious display. It was precision as a military performance. Our geese appeared to be welcoming the Canadian Geese that made our group look like a tiny greeting committee. I am one who hates to be ill. I was always healthy, very healthy until the age of 65. Well I am totally inept when it comes to being ill. I began to get back into my routine a couple of days ago. Saturday we hit our stride again, we worked in our Rehab ministry I love this work. Those who are not court ordered are truly seeking help, and some who are court ordered are seeking as well. I have no idea why we bought a memory bed. We are of an age that one would forget what goes on before another major happening might occur. That is my story and I am sticking to it like glue. We get to turn our clocks back, sleep in an additional hour Sunday morning. I am loving that. Little Nathanial is away at college and is soon to have a birthday. Mama calls and e mails letting him know how proud she is of her little man. He is about to be 21, a man of his Own! Well never did I think I would be going to a meeting that would take me back to life in those days of my being a little girl, as I have written about recently. No it was not Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band it was Sgt. Preppers Hungry Family in the Dark Club. We are about 300 miles inland yet we have trouble when there are hurricanes on the coast. I feel so blessed as I have been able to be out of bed most of this day. I am feeling so much stronger. I am hoping to hit the pavement running tomorrow. I want to be with George in the Jail ministry at seven in the morning. At nine we begin the two services at the home for the elderly. I went for an appointment with the surgeon yesterday. He is ready to do his work but several more test must be done concerning other issues before he can do surgery. I have several appointments between now and Oct 3, the last before we set a surgery date.
