A DAY OR SO IN MY LIFE! WHO CARES?

Thank you all, we had a lovely Thanksgiving and hope you did as well. Two things about thanksgiving I do not like: Even the thought of Black Friday and the leftovers. I may freeze dressing and eat it with something a month from now. I do not want a plate of turkey, dressing and potato salad today or tomorrow. I really love Thanksgiving celebration. All of George's children live on the coast and it is a six hour drive. They never spend Holidays with us as they have family from both sides where they live. My daughter and her husband are joining us this year. I am having a wonderful time. One reason I love preparing the meal in addition to the fact that I love to cook is that it was George and my first holiday celebration 29 years ago. My last post drew some comments I would like to revisit. I believe both comments that took me to task were from people who were serious and believed what they were saying. Today I was working on some additional stories from the kid and I was so surprised how clearly I could remember the times, feel the sensations and hear the sounds as if it was such a short time. Nothing new and spectacular except I feel great and I am alive. Pretty much the same as any Thursday. It is the day we grocery shop because yesterday the sales came out and I can stock by that. A huge Bass Fishing tournament came to town so all who live down town especially and others went to the Port and welcomed them. There has never been a day like this one. There will never be an America again that leads the world in protection, morality, business and Faith. We have come under judgment. Now those people who have been hit by the horrific Sandy are bracing for a Nor-Easter. One woman said we worked very hard for all that we have and we are staying here to protect it because looting is rampant. This is such a horror when people take advantage of those who have been hit with such force as to be wide open to the elements and fools come out loot, rape and pillage. Those people should be shot. The media is going hog wild about whether Christi should have been so sweetsy to Obama and Obama is taking it for everything he can get and the people are hungry, cold, without power and up to their ever-loving necks in garbage. I remember the thrashing George Bush got for not going to Katrina. Katrina was a wart on a fly compared to this and we are doing nothing. I want to invite all who have not prayed about the Cold Front coming into the North East to please do so today. Some years back there was an incredible Tsunami in Indonesia that killed so many people. I was on Blogit and our writers who lived in various parts of the world were, as was I, so shocked at the devastation. We had not grown accustomed to one disaster after another even though there had been volcanoes, earthquakes, fires and floods since the day of Noah, nothing could compare with this in our minds. A s a child I was instructed on how I should comport myself around the elderly to show the utmost of respect. Of course times were very different. On the bus, subway or any public transportation anyone would stand and offer their seat to any elderly person or a woman who was standing because of lack of seating. I have encountered all sorts of behavior from the Alzheimer's patients to include my mother over the years. I never saw intentional disrespect from the elderly until this past decade.... This is what I am doing with my day. I am making and canning wonderful Spaghetti sauce with fresh mushrooms, loads of basil, lemon thyme, meat etc., to go with bread just out of the oven and fresh butter with finely chopped garlic. There is a quart of the sauce and plenty of everything for four for a fun dinner when all the hostess has to do is boil water for the Spaghetti. I am doing Chili baskets too.
