End of Day Report

Headed out around 10 this morning, got back home around 5. Long day, but we got so much done! We have 10 more days to clear the storage unit and it looks like we'll make that deadline, even beat it. Nearly all the costuming is out--maybe 4 more bins will finish that job--and much of the big stage and household stuff has already gone. I think 5 more truck-loads will do it. Everything is going to the workshop, and it is looking pretty crowded in places. We are delayed with fully setting up because... Sign in to see full entry.

Heading out any moment...

Starting another busy day... clearing more from the storage unit, buying more plastic bins of various sizes... unloading and then back to get more from the storage... Pretty sky this morning, all blue and pink, but mostly grey now. We could see rain, too. Photos from WhimsyCon are up, finally: https://flic.kr/ps/rhS1C Sign in to see full entry.

Bringing the heat!

The sun is bright, and the day, They promise, will hint of summer! In the Springs we expect temps in the 80s! And so for the first time this year I am wearing my capri-length pants! Remember those? My elder brain was struggling to recall what they are called, these cropped length pants. Remember when we called them 'pedal-pushers' from when they were what we wore riding bikes? Anyway, I also think of them as my 'hobbit pants' and wear them all summer by choice because they are not only cooler,... Sign in to see full entry.

Sunday driving

Here we are with temps climbing to maybe 75 today! Spring is declaring itself, though Winter may yet have a few things to say. I may have mentioned before that we've more than once had snow on Mother's Day! Driving across the countryside yesterday it was more fun than usual. The fields and woods on the way out to Elbert I saw pronghorns--a herd of a couple dozen--and in another field, a number of bison! Not wild ones, I think, but farmed ones. Then, beyond Elbert where we needed to go to pick up... Sign in to see full entry.

It's been a busy week!

It has been chilly all week but the coming week is predicted to bring temps in the 70s, maybe even 80s! Besides all the moving of fixtures and furnishings for the workshop, Charlie has been putting many hours into creating masks and decor for this weekend's LARP. I can't show you any of it until after the event, but I hope to get some shots when I go to pick him up tomorrow. I have been working with the costuming collection, putting things up onto hangers and the temporary racks. Next week we... Sign in to see full entry.

When Tuesday is like Monday

Yesterday was a lot about recovering from the weekend away at WhimsyCon. A good time was had, with 10 of Charlie's 14 Wasteland Bears finding new best friends, and our having congenial neighbors in the vendors' room. His Auto-Billiards was, as always, a big hit with the crowd, and the folks from the Alliance LARP were also in attendance. Things went well enough at home where my friend Joanne's two teen daughters looked after the critters. They'd gone home by the time we got back Sunday evening,... Sign in to see full entry.

Do you Wordle?

I start every day with going to the NY Times games, and do Wordle, Spelling Bee, and the Mini Crossword. It helps jumpstart my brain! Wordle challenges you to figure out a 5-letter word in 6 tries or fewer. Not guessing it in 6 breaks your winning streak. Not playing any particular day also ends a streak. Mine is currently at 70, after breaking a 67 when I went to Seattle and didn't play for several days. My win rate is 98%, and most of them I've guessed by the 4th try. I've gotten a lot on the... Future-pacing to next weekend

Very cold again this morning--I left the cold tap dripping overnight, so the cold water is still liquid this morning. Yesterday it was windy, too, but all seems calm this morning. According to one weather forecast, we're to expect clouds and precipitation today, but right now the sky is clear and blushing with oncoming sunshine. We took the weekend off from moving stuff to the new workshop/display space, mostly. Next weekend is WhimsyCon, and things need to be readied for that, like Wasteland... Sign in to see full entry.

What came before?

Goldiec asked this in the comments, but I'll answer here: For several years the space Charlie and I are moving into was, we are told, a 'social club for bikers.' It was painted entirely black inside, and had some kinda peculiar electrical and lighting arrangements. The management has painted over the black and it is now white in the display rooms and the workshop is a very pale beige sort of color. They are sorting out the heating/cooling systems, and we are still negotiating to either get rid... Sign in to see full entry.

Busier than yesterday!

Another day goes dark, last light just after 7pm or so. A bright crescent moon hangs below brilliant Jupiter, and misty clouds flow around and over, they wink in and out... Another day of shifting and shopping, finding some thrift store items like two shelf units that I spotted as they were brought out onto the selling floor, and nabbed. Charlie found a sturdy workbench. We were called to meet the electrician and building managers as we checked out, so had to run back to the new place and be... Sign in to see full entry.
