When we went back up to the vet, Davy's condition was not improved, and though they drained the fluid around his heart again, it was clear it wasn't going to improve. We spent some time with him, spoke with the vet, and asked what kind of quality of life he might have, and for how long. She said he had maybe days, possibly only hours of weakening, his heart failing. Davy was always an anxious dog, and we didn't want him afraid and worried.
