Check in the mail! County Fair Pays Off!
This year my photos at the County Fair won two ribbons, and today I got a premium check for $11.20. Yay, I can really party now!

Davy and I have been taking walks in the woods.
Around here, it is a lovely deep woods, the Pacific NW rainforest: beautiful trails through tall trees and lush ferns, beard-ish mosses hanging from branches, wonderful and strange fungi all of a sudden nearly underfoot... I spotted one today that should have been growing on a log, but it was just emerging from the ground, and it had an ivy leaf growing above it, but the stem of the ivy had grown up through the edge of the fungus. Waking up...

The robins on the windowsill
When I was a kid, from 1st grade to 5th, we lived in the upstairs apartment of an old carriage house at the edge of a Long Island estate. Oh, how I'd love to have such a place now! But this isn't about the charms of that old home. This is about the robins. From the window of our bathroom at the end of the house, we looked towards the neighbors who occupied another converted carriage house.
