I used to see that so often when commuting to the job. It makes one wonder what the drivers are thinking...it doesn't cost any more to put on their lights and stay safe. Happy you made it there and back home again without incident.

When I worked for the phone company we were given defensive
driving training. This was in regularly scheduled sessions during the work day, not an on-the-road thing for those of us who worked in the office. We also had civil defense - planespotter - training. This was during the cold war era in the early '50s, and before I ever had a driver's license. Also had this during high school driver's ed classes - stuff about keeping a safe distance behind the car in front, lights on during foggy or other hazardous conditions. Just made sense to me. Always worries me when folks take such risks driving without lights on dark/rainy days.
