Tomorrow we vote.

Colorado Springs is voting for city council members. I really want to vote, but neither of the candidates in my district would be representing my values and interests. Not even a little. I'm asking around, getting other voters' opinions and perspectives. Voting at every level matters. Local communities set the tone that generate state legislatures, and they are far more powerful than some of us have realized until lately, only voting in, maybe, races for governor, and Presidential election... Snow day photos

https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/5G860z It has ceased to snow, though it was huge soft clumps instead of flakes for a while, so I took some photos, then that little guy showed up... Sign in to see full entry.

It snew... again.

Just when I'm looking for rising temperatures and raising my handkerchief and putting bells on to celebrate Spring--this, again. And it is still doing it. It seems not to phase Mama EACDove, she is still sitting up there keeping a shiny black eye on me when I peer out at her. A couple of times I have seen a second adult, perhaps Papa EACDove and I wonder if he takes a turn on the nest sometimes, or simply hangs around with her because they're mates and it's what they do. I was invited to go to... Sign in to see full entry.

What a week!

Here it is, Friday... This week Charles and I went to two shows: JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and last night, THE CRUCIBLE. They are essentially the same story, a tragic victory of truth and devotion to it, over all the temptations to let it slide, to save one's life by accepting the lie of flawed authority, distorted power. If you've never seen Arthur Miller's THE CRUCIBLE, well, the title tells it all: a concentration of common, impure material confined in a small bowl and intensely heated to the... Morning on the Mountain

I woke to another of those fiery dawns this morning, but by the time I was ready to get a picture of it, the drama had shifted to the other side of the sky. Here are a few shots of sunrise today on Pike's Peak: https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/35UJ77 Sign in to see full entry.

update on doves

This dedicated mama returned to the nest and has been keeping on eye on me when I peer at her. She flew away once more when I set out some wild bird food, but I can just catch her eye from the sliding door without opening it. On that last occasion, while she was away I managed to get a shot of the two eggs. I've sent an email to the Wildlife Trusts organization in England as they seem likeliest to know if it would be a good or bad idea to turn on the light in the fixture. It's only 40 watts, and... Oh dear...

I guess I won't be able to use my front deck for a while. When I went outside yesterday, one of the local doves leaped from the box-shaped light fixture where a robin built a nest a couple of years ago, and fled to a nearby tree all startled and fluffed. I went out this morning, and realized she has decided to make use of the nest: there are two eggs in it. I do hope I haven't scared her away for good! From now on, the deck is hers. If you love sunsets,

you're going to enjoy the next several entries on Flickr! If you compare these images with those from previous England trip photo albums, you may notice that the sun sets in significantly different parts of the sky from one month to the next. https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/os05e8 Sign in to see full entry.

Saturday with Alexa and Embers

Woke at 5am CoSprings time, feeling chipper. I suppose the body still on England time thought it was closer to 11am. Embers has been sleeping on or beside me for every nap and bedtime. She is responding well to her medication (prednisilone) and so, eating well since I left. That's a real relief! We started putting the liquid on her food as soon as it started working, so she doesn't have to bear it squirted into her mouth. I asked Alexa/Echo to play Mary Travers songs today, and have been...
