Don't stand looking at yourself in the mirror. But you do have to look at yourself, writer, look at what you do to keep yourself from shining, from outing that secret soul you are under the facade, inside the roles you play for the benefit of co-workers, friends, family. As Nelson Mandela once said,... Sign in to see full entry.

Timeless Moon
The timeless moon was full last night, and when I stepped out the kitchen door onto the deck, there was enough light to read by. The harvest moon, September, the first full moon of autumn, reminded me of how it was one June night fifty years ago, when we saw how the light lay across the recently... Sign in to see full entry.

I posted this a couple days ago & deleted. So here 'tis
Eastwick Writers??? As a joke I suggested to Jo Ann we call our writerly women's group the "Eastwick Writers." She grinned and said you think we're a bunch of witches. I said I've been called worse. At some point after all of us finally got there, we talked briefly about Big John who was in the old... Sign in to see full entry.

"Thanks for all the fish," to quote Douglas Adams.
Remember "A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams, and his subsequent novels "Restaurant at The End of the Universe," and etc. In one mad scene toward the end, all the dolphins returned to their home planet, singing as they were beamed up from the ocean depths, "Thanks for all the... I used to do some thinking: from 2002, Seattle...
Morning Pages #2 Woke up around five thought I heard something around the house in the kitchen maybe pup or kitten making small vocals but as my ears woke up I knew it must have been my dream remnant coming up out of the other dimension. Six long weeks of empty rhetoric, six long weeks of pointing fingers and looking for slips next to an open microphone, six weeks of negative ads every ten minutes, six endless weeks of pundits pulling apart and spinning the straw words of candidates and their kissin' cousins into media gold. I can... Sign in to see full entry.
Cute guy in uniform...
Went to the market a couple days ago, and there he was, neatly tucked in, ribbons on his chest, and as I moved across the lot, he looked intently at me. "Wanna buy some cub scout popcorn?" he said as I got close enough for conversation. I told him I'd buy some on the way out. Never could resist a... Sign in to see full entry.

Chapter 19: What the Indian Said
A few weeks later In the December rush of finals week Joe Alvarez not only had his own assignments to finish and exams to pass, he also had to grade the projects of thirty-three 101 students. There was no time to socialize or check the website, barely even time to sleep. He didn’t get to Mission... Sign in to see full entry.
Ch. 18: Say Uncle - conclusion
“Could you live with this, instead?” “I don’t know.” “You’d be helping your country.” “I don’t know, I guess it’s safer than busting up their playhouse and bringing down the wrath of god.” “Perhaps we could find a more appropriate target for your sandworm, Joe. When you’re ready to look for a job,... Sign in to see full entry.
