Bunnabee news

I have a structural problem... Well, not me personally... Well, at least, not one relevant to this situation. It's the house. It's the stairwell. It's the bunny. I felt very clever finding a way to install an expansion gate she can't knock over or shove aside, right at the bottom of the second level of steps. But... bunny: She jumps through the rail from the top of the lower steps to the wrong side of the gate, and hop-presto, there she is in the living room again! So, I have to cleverly come up... Patches looks around

I was going to sit downstairs with Patches, after breakfast, but as I sat down to eat, I heard a significant thump from the lower part of the house. Breakfast had to wait while I checked into that sound. Patches was ready to explore her new surroundings. She had already checked out the bathroom, rearranged her furnishings, provided ample fertilizer for the deck garden--as rabbits do--and bounded out to see what else there is in the world. I followed: She can't explore unsupervised because there... Sign in to see full entry.

Patches has arrived

She is a yearling Holland lop, brown and white and I am guessing nearly 10 lbs. She seems quite comfortable in the downstairs bathroom, which is a larger space than she is used to, and has room for all her gear as well. She has a nice wooden chew toy to demolish. She needs to chew stuff to keep her teeth from over-growing. Because of this, I removed the wooden doll house from her reach, all that nice tender, chewable wood! that was in the guest room on a low table. It has relocated to the... Sign in to see full entry.

The deck garden in my living room

The temperature outside is in the low 40s F, the snow that was on the ground this morning is gone, and maybe things will warm up towards spring today, again, heading into a nice weekend. But I won't set out the plants on the deck again today. They look nice in the house, and don't seem to have any objections to the indoor climate. Photos are up, both before and after the freeze. https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/oY52wk I have not seen the doves on the deck lately, but the little birdhouse... Sign in to see full entry.

Yep, snowing again...

I sigh, but with the satisfaction that all the tender plants are safe inside, gracing the living room with their color and oxygen exchange. The bunny is not here yet, so they are safe from nibbling teeth. By Saturday, hopefully, when Patches moves in, they will be outside again. A former housemate of Charlie's moved to Olympia several years ago, and at the end of this month, she is coming back here for a friend's wedding. She will be here 10 days, and I offered her my guest room. Of course, at... Sign in to see full entry.

sigh...

So, just as I opened all the doors and windows to the warm breeze, and my heart began to celebrate the onset of summer, at least knowing at last that the warm days are upon us... Forecast is for 30s F tonight, and possible snow on Thursday. All the bright leafy and flowering plants are now sitting on my big square coffee table. We went to a movie tonight, called KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD. It was a fun movie, funny moments and dark spooky themes, sort of traditional modern fusion music I... Sign in to see full entry.

Deck Garden 2017

Imagine waking to the sound of old-fashioned typewriters being furiously worked by frenetic old-fashioned typists... That is, apparently, the sound of sparrow chicks being fed. I heard it this morning twice, though it has been quiet since. I can't see these chicks, but I am glad to know they are lively! Yesterday was deck-gardening day. Every summer, of course, it is a different garden, and I make no plans, it is just whatever catches my eye at the garden shops. This year there are a couple of... Sign in to see full entry.

Bunny

Mother's Day started with Charlie's sourdough french toast with fresh strawberries and real whipped cream, and then another mother and her two gals came over and brought with them Patches the Bunny. Patches has been at their house since last August, and because they are mostly at school and work, Patches spends her days confined to a cage. She is not a cuddly sort of pet, but she does like to run around. She seems to be past the wire-chewing stage, but we will, of course, keep a close eye on any... Sign in to see full entry.

Sometimes Facebook is cool

Everyone who follows my bloggery here on Blogit will know that I have opinion political, social, and spiritual that are settled in other blogs. Especially the political/social opinion scene is maybe 70% what preoccupies Facebook. That and pointless 'quizzes' that lure in the competitive with click-bait headlines affirming, "Hardly anyone/only a genius gets this right!" then presents a series of questions that are self-revealing answers or accompanied by photos that make the right answer obvious.... Waking with the birds

About 4am, the birds begin to sing. Well, one bird, usually, seems to glory in singing up the rest of the world. I don't know what kind it is, this one songbird, or if it is the same one every day, but it starts up well before human senses can detect the coming of day. I wonder if it is the same one that sings down the sun at the end of the day. It's quiet in the house this morning, just the bird outside and the calm and steady fan of this machine. The fridge is blessedly silent. Have you ever... Sign in to see full entry.
