Word got back to my Facebook Unfriend that I'd zapped him from my newsfeed. Someone saw my post about why I'd summarily unfriended "someone" because he posted how funny it was he'd once put "acid" into a friend's drink and the guy passed out pissed himself. I said it was unacceptably risky behavior... Sign in to see full entry.

In the midst of life
My former neighbor lady passed away a few days ago after a last year that was one broken bone, one miserable recovery after another. Back, hip, ankle. She could no longer go to the library, shop for groceries, do any of the things people take for granted as boring normal. She and I became neighbors... Sign in to see full entry.

Moving On...
I watched my daughter receive her law school diploma at Stetson University Law School in St. Petersburg Florida yesterday. The Webcast was going, the candidates were marching in at 7:30 when I clicked on the link. The crowd was standing, the marchers too far away to see faces. The introductions and... Woulda - shoulda - coulda
It seems like everything's happening at once. At 7:00 a.m. I woulda been putting things in the crockpot to make soup. I shoulda gone to the store yesterday and bought the stuff to make soup. I coulda, but I was busy on the phone talking to my heartbroken and embarrassed son who called to let me know... Sign in to see full entry.
Give me Strength...
Help me get through this day, because I ain't gonna make it otherwise. (Sounds a bit dramatic, doesn't it? Like maybe there's a terrible ordeal ahead of me, like the dentist or some painful, embarrassing medical procededure...) Well it's none of those. It's Vickie. One of my writing buddies. The... Pity Parties... How do you avoid them?
Baleful came into the center a few days ago. She hadn't been there with her list of grievances against life the week before. She stopped by the bread table where we have the donations from Panera bakery - they give us their day-old leftovers to hand out. Picked out a bag of assorted bagels, grabbed... Playing Solitaire
Maybe it's human nature, or maybe it's just me - but there's a lot of symbolic meaning in a deck of cards. If you're looking for a story plot, you can attribute personality to the various figures and numbers: the queen of hearts may be loyal, the jack of diamonds a rascal, the king of clubs a... It was Damnfoolishness...
He was out on a date, took a hit of GHB, something he'd never tried - He'd almost stopped breathing by the time the EMT's picked him up, so the ER doctors put him on a breathing machine. To insert the breathing tube, they have to sedate the patient. The ER doctor mentioned GHB - and I said my son... Sign in to see full entry.
News from Seattle
Six a.m. Wednesday morning. I got to my desk with coffee in hand to find a blinking message on my phone. Caller ID said Harborview Medi. The phone number was a Seattle area code. Oh, God! The message was from a social worker at the medical center, if I was the mother of John, birthdate 12-30-71, my... Sign in to see full entry.

Tatts & Tomorrow
When my granddaughter Amy (19) came home from California for mother's day and a get-together with her St. Louis friends, she walked into a storm of mother-disapproval. Tantrum, in fact. Accusatory emotional negative response. It seems Amy, now that she's on her own, decided to get a few tattoos. And... Sign in to see full entry.
