I have my own take on astrology, considering the relative positions of the planets and constellations as a kind of energy-reading of the physical world. Its effect is on the same level as energy-channels and chakras of the body, and the ley-lines of the Earth which are the same thing, but of the planet itself. My perception is that these spread out from the planet into space, that the universe itself has energy-lines and that each planet and star is a nexus where lines meet and cross. And energy... Naut, you made a comment in Troosha's blog today that reminded me of this. I offer an exerpt only, for your pleasure, of Algernon Charles Swinburne's The Triumph of Time. I will go back to the great sweet mother, Mother and lover of men, the sea. I will go down to her, I and none other, Close with her, kiss her and mix her with me; Cling to her, strive with her, hold her fast: O fair white mother, in days long past Born without sister, born without brother, Set free my soul as thy soul is free.... may in fact be the immense relief we feel that a degree of what we recognize as reason and sanity has been offered us, in place of years of insanity and the ongoing destruction of many things we value. You who are assuming that the response to Obama is pathological, insult many of us who are intelligent, cautious in our trust, and feeling deeply wounded by the long, long betrayal of our dreams of America, of what it could be, of what it should be. I know that he is human, and that he cannot act... Sign in to see full entry.
and some who blame God for everything. Their final answer for everything is "Because God wants it that way." The fatuousness of these people doesn't mean that there is no God--It means they don't understand what God is. It's the same with psychic stuff: many people are fatuous about it, will believe anything, attribute many things inappropriately to it, to that particular sort of 'magic.' In fact, our minds are capable of amazing things that happen outside our conscious thought processes. We... Sign in to see full entry.
Parents and friends, partners, lovers... teachers and leaders... priests, doctors and policemen... We do so want them to be perfect for us! We carry in our hearts and minds an Ideal image of what Mother should be, what Relationship ought to live up to, what the Leader should do and say. And in life, in our realities, they just never are, never do. It isn't a difficult thing to make a philosophical distinction between Ideal and Real. But in the midst of living, in striving to get our needs met,... Sign in to see full entry.
Words represent concepts... concepts are how we intellectually package and organize the mash of stuff our brains--left and right sides--and minds--conscious and unconcious--process moment by moment, season by season, life by life. Is God an Absolute Reality? Is God a construct of our own inner workings? Is it a reflection of our need for control, security, authority? Does it matter, if we behave as if God is real? I suppose some poeple have to have god literal and as real as can be, or they... Sign in to see full entry.

A world in an instant created, lived, enjoyed... although cities rise and fall; storms and dogfights, campaigns and all; and as time passes little tots grow tall; Demands demanded never heard; Comments made, but noticed by me? Not a word! In traffic jams, in stagnant lines, while polishing the silver tines, sometimes even I must confess in church when sermons inspire less-- sometimes, I let tea-kettle moan-- While I, am happy quite alone in that world all my own. All choices are born from beliefs. But some beliefs that once were useful for survival's sake become obsolete as experience grows, as time passes. The old beliefs have to be seen in the light, given conscious attention. Their origins need to be appreciated, and the events and experiences that led to certain conclusions need to be looked at from the perspective of present time and knowledge. A conscious choice can be made then, whether to uphold or update the belief. It works for individuals, and... Sign in to see full entry.
This is one written several years ago, when my youngest was about to graduate from high school. Mortality was on my mind, and the seasons of life, as his passage from childhood also seemed to mark my own passage into elderhood. THE MAGIC HOUR a sonnet of art and age Stare not at the Sun, we’re oft reminded, But in the Magic Hour, as the Poets tell Eyes can gaze and be not blinded-- The day’s work’s done, for good or ill. The Farmer comes home from the field, The Baker from the baking; The... Sign in to see full entry.
