Sitting on the deck in the morning
There's a lawn mower busy a block away, a more distant dog barking, and the occasional vehicle going by. Little birds peep in the big maple, and one of the doves was on the top of the gable of the building next door, roughly cooing, as they do. I am seated in the rocking chair with a view into the bedroom. My back is to the dove nest above and behind me about 3-4 feet away.
