Counting yarns

Skeins and balls of soft alpaca yarns and smooth, stiff linen yarns, and synthetics and wools and... yarns in bins and yarns in tubs and yarns in glass compartmented shelves... Hanks and skeins are easy, they lay acquiesently on their shelves; rolly-polly balls, not so cooperative. I'm helping with the annual inventory at the yarn shop: three days, around 8 hours a day... Everyone wants a change sometime

Madame sniffed at the peanut between my fingers today, and she sniffed my fingers, and the peanut again, and turned away. It isn't surprising, she has gone through two good-sized bags of peanuts since we started our little nut ritual. Some, she ate immediately, extracting them from their shells, right there on the porch railing. Others she scampered away with, usually two at a time, to hide somewhere, in one of her several caches.
