E'vl Story Project, part 2

So this one particular Saturday morning I dropped Fang off at Printing Service and headed for town. There was this really nice laundromat at the edge of the business district, on St. Louis Street. It was in the second block east of the town's most exclusive residential neighborhood. There I was,... Sign in to see full entry.

My E'vl. Story Project Contribution

Laundromat Sociology, 1960 I remember the early 1960s –the beginning of the rock ‘n roll era, a time when Elvis was a source of shock and awe. The Beatles were big in the UK but hadn’t yet crossed the “pond.” Protests over the war in Vietnam, the sexual revolution, the women’s movement: none of this... Sign in to see full entry.

Play me a song, you're the piano man

Ja-da, Ja-da, Ja-da Ja-da Jing Jing Jing. Ja-da, Ja-da, Ja-da Ja-da Jing Jing Jing. That’s a funny little bit of melody. It’s so soothing and appealing to me. It goes Ja-da, Ja-da, Ja-da Ja-da Jing Jing Jing… It was a miracle, Terry said. Terry’s the piano player at The Center who plays old and new... Sign in to see full entry.

Family

Not everyone who's a sister to you was your mother's child. I believe the woman who married my grandson could be one of mine. Nicole is an accomplished photographer, a craft and art she developed when they were assigned to 29 Palms base, an isolated bit of the great California desert. To occupy her... Grandkids and Greats!

My Grandson Joe Jr., his wife Nicole and their two little girls arrived Sunday afternoon at Son Joe's - while I was stuck at the Library doing the Story Project thing. It rained like crazy and I got soaked to the skin going from the library to the car. I knew Joe had tickets to the Cardinals'... Sign in to see full entry.

Mundane's Story Project...

Preliminary report: mixed. I took the original to Office Depot and had 50 copies made of the program and evaluation sheets. I had the program done in color, which cost about double what I'd expected. And then when we got to looking at it, I found I'd printed out the original - not the correction -... Sign in to see full entry.

Tiny projects.

I noticed a few weeks ago the screws that hold the latch onto the gate on the back fence had fallen out. They were part of the new fence installed last summer, the one that was overpriced and the installation was mismanaged. It's under a year's warranty. I shoulda called the Big Box Boys and told... Daily Nightly Show

I'm gonna miss Jon Stewart. I'm gonna miss his insights, the research his team does on the political scene. Who else collects and pokes fun at all the ridiculous posturing, the bombastic proclamations on Fox and CNN. I don't know whether it's their audacity that shocks me, or their condescension,... Triumph Over Adversity

This was the topic for yesterday's session at The Center. Hard times are a part of every life, and in the two years they've done the "Write Your Own Story" sessions, they'd never addressed the rain that into each life must fall. So yesterday we tackled some of the sh*t that hits the proverbial fan.... Sign in to see full entry.

A Bit of Noise in "Quiet Town"

When I first moved to my little house on Brick Street, I happened to be in the Stagger Inn one evening and mentioned it to Tim, the bartender, who lives a couple blocks north on another of the 'original' streets. Oh, he said, pouring me a shot of Bushmill's on the house, Congratulations and welcome... Sign in to see full entry.
