pacing, waiting, waiting, pacing...

The bank has the application, has had it since yesterday morning, said they would call yesterday afternoon... or this morning... the morning is nearly done... pace, pace... How can you make an offer when you don't know what the bank will say? The seller wants an offer... Dealing with car sales is such a tricksey game, and they of course want you to do business their way... Second looks, and pre-emptive buyer's remorse...

Sitting around home and thinking about that mini-motorhome, those feelings of... Really...? Do I really need this... to spend all that money... to borrow all that money... Whatif Whatif Whatif...?? So I drove back up to the lot today and looked again and kicked out the doubts, put a few dollars down to make sure no one swoops in and takes it away before the alternator part arrives, and I can test-drive it. I've hardly slept...

I keep thinking of the little motorhome I found yesterday, one that maybe I can actually have! It is not the little 19-ft Airstream Bambi (I didn't name it, they did, it's a line that has been around since the 50s) which is the one I have my heart set on, that is about 3 times the cost of this one, if I could find a good used one. But this would do for starters. Everything I know about it so far is good, or good enough. It needs some cleaning up, a few days worth of work in that, getting into... Sign in to see full entry.

It is time...

Now, in this last week in New Zealand, I have begun packing for the return to the US, and I have about 5 lbs of postcards to write and mail before leaving. so... The Perfect Shell

Imagine looking at the night sky when there are city lights around, and the most brilliant of the stars punch through the glow anyway... That is how it is, but with birdsong, when the wind is blowing and rushing and moaning through trees and eaves and crevices. When the city lights go out, the stars, the little ones, the subtle ones leap out of obscurity, and suddenly the the sky is full of constellations and star fields. Here it comes...!

The New Year... approaching from somewhere off-planet... getting nearer and nearer... I am taking some pleasure in being among the first this time to greet 2011 nearly as soon as it arrives in inhabited areas, or at least, inhabited by those who notice such things and care at the least enough to turn a calendar page. Could be worse.

But it is just my camera gone wonky and murdering memory cards. So many photos, gone totally. Some... might be somehow magically accessible. But probably not. Thankfully, I had already collected many of them up to now onto laptop. But I mourn the lost ones... On the other hand... a recent realization is sinking in, I am remembering it when I need to.
