and another thing...

The yearning to return to 'normal' is, maybe, a kind of emotional reflex, the yearning to 'go home again.' But 'home' was never how we recall it in our fantasies, and who we are now is not who we were then. Inject Lysol...?

This guy reminds me of the woman who called the Hayden Planetarium when I was a volunteer there just after the first moon landing. It was raining a LOT in New York City that summer. I happened to pick up the phone when she called to suggest--because the astronomers probably hadn't thought of it--that when they were tromping around up there on the moon, they broke the shell.
