If nothing else we found ways to drive less, and we can see the proof
in cleaner air now. Taking convenience for granted and driving one person to a car a hundred miles a day is a bad habit and contributes to our own ill health / demise.

You are right. Anthropologically, we who are here now are descendants of those who survived by adapting along the way. We all should be hard-wired to deal with this one way or another.
