Surviving, one Monday at a time

I woke up in terrible pain today, for reasons I still haven't figured out. Convinced that it was a sign of a bad day, I buried my head back under the blankets and decided to just stay in bed all day. Less trouble, less chance of facing...well, anything. But avoidance only carried me for about an... Sign in to see full entry.

Get me some socks, or get lost!

I love my husband very much, but today I could have killed him, and quite happily to buried his body somewhere far away. I woke up this morning with words practically bursting out of me. I don't know what triggers these moments of intensity, but they always demand every ounce of my attention. It's... Sign in to see full entry.

A quiet home, and a release from suffering

Well, it's been a hectic sort of week, and again I seemed to have fallen off the blogging wagon. I'm back again, although I think my posts will be erratic for a few more days, as will my attempts to catch up on reading. For now, here's what's been going on in Sira Land. Marks cousin and his wife,... Sign in to see full entry.

Putting my assets to good use

I started calling around yesterday morning, on the hunt for a mirror for my car. I was more than a little shocked to find that a new mirror cost about $140--I'd been expecting something more like $50. And $50 is about all I had to spend, since I'd done so much shopping this month! I called Mark in a... Sign in to see full entry.

Vandals and Screwdriver Games

It's been an interesting couple of days in Sira Land, with some good events, and a few rather upsetting ones. It all started Sunday afternoon, when a truck from the city pulled up outside my house. They were laying out No Parking signs, because they're getting ready to strip and repave the street.... Sign in to see full entry.

No Vacancy at Sira's Hotel

Mark's cousin and his wife are coming to visit. Actually, they're coming to the city because she's having laser eye surgery, and they decided to drop in while they're here. As far as I know, they're due to arrive on Wednesday. Since they plan to stay in Calgary for a couple of days after her surgery... Sign in to see full entry.

She's kind of a cute little bugger

I was sitting in the middle of the front room yesterday, trying in vain to sort out my paperwork and bills, when the doorbell rang. I wasn't expecting company--I very rarely invite or allow people into my 'inner sanctum'. I thought it would be the kid from the newspaper again. He's been coming... Sign in to see full entry.

Deep Cleaning

I decided, under great duress, to give the house a good, deep cleaning. Marks been dropping hints, in a not-so-subtle sort of way, that he'd like to organize the house and really get some cleaning done. I was tempted to tell him to do it himself, but that seemed a bit mean--he does work all day, and... Sign in to see full entry.

23 cm and counting

I woke up at about 7 am this morning, to the sight of gently falling snow. There was a light dusting of white on the lawn, and the roads were wet, but not white. It's now 11 am, and things have taken a definite turn for the worse. We're up to about 23 cm on the ground. I know, because I went out... Sign in to see full entry.

That's the meanest sticker I've ever seen!

I was in a car accident a little while ago. It was fairly bad, but no one was hurt. It happened at a busy intersection that featured a dual left-turn lane. I was in the right turn spot, and there was another vehicle in the left turn lane. That driver decided at the last minute that he really wanted... Sign in to see full entry.
