Mark and I rent the upper floor of a house, in a quiet neighborhood about 15 minutes from the city proper. The house is old, relatively speaking. It's nothing special, not very big. But it's enough space for the 2 of us, plus one mini-person if the time should come. The basement level is also... Sign in to see full entry.

Updates from my world
It's been an eventful week in Sira Land. Lots of reading, even more writing, a bit of gaming here and there. My blogging has been sporadic at best, and for that I apologize. We got a screen door, in an effort to cool the house down during the hot summer days. Mark had it installed in no time. And... Sign in to see full entry.

Pure Bliss
I am only allowed to go into bookstores twice a year. Normally, I'm a very responsible spender. I have a budget, and I make sure that both Mark and I stick to it. Bills are always paid in full, on time. But there's something about stepping into bookstores that turns me into a woman with no control.... Sign in to see full entry.

Making hay while the muse shines
I've started another book. Actually, if you want to get technical about it, I've started 3 books. One, I think I posted bits from a while back. It's modern, a story about an average man who winds up in jail. You can thank MSNBC for this particular plot--the story idea came to me after watching one... Sign in to see full entry.

Saying goodbye
14 years ago, my family got a puppy. A Border Collie, with a charming personality and enough energy to power an entire city. We named her Gracie, and she immediately became a loyal and respected member of the family. Gracie was my mom's dog, her walking companion, guard dog, plate cleaner, and all... Step Back Dr. Dolittle!
When I was a kid, I brought home a stray dog on the second day of summer vacation. He was a beautiful black lab--I named him Hunter. Mom wouldn't let him in the house, but he didn't seem to mind. He waited patiently on the back deck for me to finish breakfast, and spent the rest of the day following... Sign in to see full entry.

Non-contact sports
It's raining. It hasn't stopped raining for about 3 weeks now. At first, I was fairly philosophical about it--spring rains are good, for the trees and the grass and the crops. We'll have more flowers through the summer. Everything will be lush and green and beautiful. We won't have to worry about... Sign in to see full entry.

Musings, from the masters
I find myself in a horrible mood today--cranky to the extreme, on the verge of throwing a temper tantrum for no particular reason. It could be the weather--it's been gloomy and raining here for days and days. It could be that my computer has been acting up again, and I'm at the end of my rope. It... Sign in to see full entry.

Destined to be together
Today, I had a peanut butter and jam sandwich, for the first time in my life. I know that might come as a bit of a shock, since it's a universally popular snack. But it was not something served in Sira Land. We had jam, of course. On biscuits, for breakfast. And we had peanut butter on, well, just... Sign in to see full entry.

How Dare You
I've just been browsing through some blogs that I don't normally read--actually, I've never read them before. And having read them now, I can guarantee I won't be going back. I was beyond shocked at the amount of hatred and foulness lingering, poorly disguised as educated opinion. Personal attacks.... Sign in to see full entry.
