Election Day at The Center

Great News, boys and girls! The campaign ad blitz is over for 2014! I’m so happy the robo-calls have stopped. The Center’s a polling place for two local precincts here in Mundane. We had voters coming and going all day. The director’s day started at 5:00 a.m. We stayed open until the polls closed.... Sign in to see full entry.

Pro-Crastination

I believe the dragon egg thing is a delaying tactic. Thank you for not reminding me that November is for getting work submitted to publishers, not for NaNoWriMo novel writing or piddling around with household projects - all those things I do to avoid getting at priority 1 tasks. When I've got a... Sign in to see full entry.

Thanks for the feedback on the Dragon Egg thing.

Several very good ideas for the story... Sign in to see full entry.

"After All" - a new reader

Son Joe stopped by for coffee. I had a business card I'd picked up at the Art Fair at the Library park in October, this amazing artist whose works look like fine oil paintings done by Van Gogh - not copies, but the vibrant colors, the sense of motion, the sensuality. He didn't think it would do much... Sign in to see full entry.

Story Time (or not)

I posted the first page of a story from my archive a few minutes ago. Science fiction thing about a giant cloud that envelopes the earth and turns all animal species – including humans – from male & female to androgynous. Then it occurred to me I’d already posted this story – couple years ago maybe.... Sign in to see full entry.

Tech, high, low and frustrating...

There's a little popup add-on that Microsoft wants to download when you look at certain posts on FB with photos in them - do you trust Microsoft to upgrade your 'puter? it asks. Well, okay. It only takes a click to get yourself an ongoing, irritating pissant of a problem. What this app or option or... Sign in to see full entry.

WWB - A New Wrinkle

Writers Without Borders met last night. Well 3 of us showed up. Martha didn't come. Chris is too busy with Pets Without Partners to write. She's currently working on a planning committee to set up their Nov. trivia night to raise money to build a new shelter building for their pet rescue center.... Sign in to see full entry.

Last Day for 'Write Your Own Story' - at The Center

It's odd, but I'm feeling no mixed emotions whatsoever about today's session being the last for now. Attendance has been sporadic for the last couple of months. Some have shown up faithfully and others may have dropped in a time or two and asked for copies of the sessions they missed, sometimes 5 or... Sign in to see full entry.

The Bread Was Late...

Some Tuesdays when I get to the Center the place is full of folks catching up on the news, talking sports and griping about the crooked politicians. Yesterday there were only the ladies from the Strech & Move class heading out for breakfast at Mickey D's. The place felt deserted. Only three were... Sign in to see full entry.

This ‘n that

Got an email from my sis thanking me for the novel, asked if it would be okay to let our brother read it. I’d half-expected her to throw it against the wall because our childhood, our dad’s abandonment, has always been a sore subject, not to be mentioned in front of company. She did say if it...
