The Movie that we didn't get to see was 'Marley and me'

probably we will see it next week on the half price Tuesday. My dearest friends' son is marrying on Monday. Very funny because I can remember his oppshernish and him walking around the house after his bath wearing a kippa and a pair of black socks and nothing else. You would say to him, "Asher, go put some clothes on.' and he would ask you loudly 'Why?' 'Because it is not 'sniyiss' (modest) to walk around with no clothes on.' you would tell him. He would then tell you he has on a kippa and... Sign in to see full entry.

Well the complaint form for the NSW Legal Services Commissioner is being

filled in and the complaint against the psychiatrist and the psychologist for GIO Insurers for workcover is also going in. I will be fed up with complaints by the time I am finished. Good writing practice however. So much red tape and paper work and I am going to take my son to see a movie tonight at 7.10 pm Maisy and me which is about a dog that is a family pet and dies. It will be good therapy for him and for me. Sign in to see full entry.

By chance I discovered that the Lawyer who was handling my Workcover case

has had a complaint recorded against him nearly a year to the day in 2007, for the same reasons that I lost confidence in him as my lawyer or legal representative last year. I was advised by another lawyer who was going to examine my case to take it, not to go through pressing charges against him or making a formal complaint against him. Then they refused my case. Yes it is complex but I need to do this for all concerned. I pray to G-d that justice is done. G-d gives you the knowledge to deal... Sign in to see full entry.

Barak Obama I salute you with tears in my eyes and prayers in my heart

for your safety and success. I am not a Democrat and would probably be a Republican if I was in America and a citizen. Yet today I listened and saw History in the making. He is probably one of the most intelligent and visionary men to take the Presidential oath of office. This is why I fear for him. I remember another president many years ago in 1960. We lived in country Australia on an outback sheep and cattle property. No TV but I heard John kennedy's speech. I was nine years old when he was... Sign in to see full entry.

I do not suffer arrogant fools gladly

My tongue may be sharp and it may wound, but without pain there is no gain in life. I can take criticism and move with the flow but I will not give up being who I am And mould myself to someone else's image Of who they think I should be. I can be very nasty and I can be surprisingly nice and compassionate but don't feed me bulldust because I will fire it back at you. I will not make excuses for myself or anyone I shoot down the middle of the road And express the truth as I see it. I am always... Sign in to see full entry.

The Role of Women and Work and Home

I hope that my previous post was not misconstrued to mean that I am critical of stay at home Mums. I am not. I admire and respect women who can stay at home full time with their children and are home makers. Yes, there are also many stay at home Mums who start their own businesses and become quite successful people in their own right. However many may be critical of me for this, I can not be a stay at home Mum. Financially, emotionally and psychologically I simply cannot do it and I am... Sign in to see full entry.

Yesterday I was talking with a friend about the role of women in society

and how it has not changed that much in the last few thousands of years. When changes are made, they often work to the detriment of the female of the species. If we look at the human species in social groupings as working best under a tribal system of work distribution and social interaction, that means that all ages and genders are supported and nurtured in a well functioning society, we can not exist as units in isolation of the whole. In the tribal groups, women who have children are often... Sign in to see full entry.

The Fig Tree

Stands, a sentinel spreading shadows over two backyards full with fruit, dark purple globes empty promises exposed when broken open, their innnards rotten Even the birds do not feed, But scatter the green soft figs to the ground where they slip easily Back into the soil to reappear for next season's harvest. The ghoul tree trembles in the troubled winds of winter to bring an empty summer offering. ©Ilana Leeds Sign in to see full entry.

I have two writing competitions to finish stories for

and a report to write, plus a letter and to find a job teaching in the next few weeks for some extra money. In one of the competitions the central character must be a woman. I am going to use the story Web of Love or Love's Web for the story which closes in April and the other one about a girl who nearly gets raped through just being too naive will be for the Griffith Review which is also $10,000 first prize money. The latter story is the better story but the other story will be good when I... Sign in to see full entry.

My son is learning about responsibility

This morning my son again fed the kitten. It is his kitten. I really like the fact that he takes on the task of feeding her and looking after some of her needs. When I can I will post a video of it and him playing. They are quite hilarious together. This animal seems to know to whom she belongs. As soon as I open the bedroom door she hops straight onto the bed and goes for his feet under the doona to play or pats the top of his head or his ears to wake him up I presume. He chases her madly... Sign in to see full entry.
