Are they crazy?? People starve and they can throw away money on the fireworks for NY. Saddens and sickens me. Sign in to see full entry.
For those who do celebrate the NY with the Gregorian Calender I say this
The Fireworks in most countries that celebrate have gone overboard. I am not trying to be a spoilsport but goodness me, half an hour of fireworks could feed a few Ghanian villages for a year on meat and rice and food staples. And I thought Mexico was a poor country? These displays for me, while beautiful in themselves are signs of a decadent society that cares more about entertainment than people living within. There will be major changes in the future. I hope that G-d blesses all of the... Sign in to see full entry.

Turning 90 and more
I went to a birthday party for a 90 year old person today who has by all accounts led an incredible life. She still walks to the shopping centre to do her own grocery shopping. The Rebbetzin of the community explained at the little party how they came to be associated and this association has lasted forty years plus now. It was an honour to be there as a guest. My friend L goes back to Sydney tomorrow morning. I will probably lose one boarder in a couple of weeks, end of January anyway when he... Sign in to see full entry.

Letter to the Editor re Uri Aveney's article
I dream of another Israel and the need for an Israeli 'Obama'. http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/i-dream-of-another-israel-20081229-76sc.html Dear Mr Aveney I also dream of Israel. I dream of a strong state that is given the respect it deserves. I dream of a state of Israel where the government is not blackmailed into giving away land because of outside pressure. I dream of an Israel which supports it citizens and does not evict them from their homes of twenty plus years because they have bowed... Sign in to see full entry.

The citizens of Sderot forgotten - A poem
What is their crime, These people in the border towns? Have they bombed and beaten down The Palestinians of Aza and Jenin Have they elected the governments in Palestine to deserve such time? Who lives in Sderot? Murderers, muggers, thieves, terrorists All waiting for an opportunity to cross The border into Aza To strap on a suicide bomb belt To kill and maim the citizens of Aza To splatter blood over the town plazas, Blood of innocents going about their daily lives. Who lives in Sderot? Are they... Sign in to see full entry.
Should we teach our own kids or leave it to others?
I am authoritarian. That I know and while it does work in teaching a class full of rowdy high school kids, it is different teaching your own child. I think subconsciously we all want our child to be a genius and if they are not, we are more understanding of our offspring's short comings when it comes from someone else and we are more protective of them. When it is us explaining over and over again the different colours to our children and thinking to ourselves,'Why aren't they getting it? Are... Sign in to see full entry.

Frozen Beings
Frozen Beings Cold hearts reaching out to draw Warmth into their icy maw Suck in the life giving air Of those who do care Their emotions burnt raw They sizzle with hate for those Who are different to them, Until their burnt out shells Are licked clean to the bone. All desire there has flown From veins where once blood rose And fell with steady rhythm Now iced over in hell’s draw They sit amongst the graveyards Of mankind’s greed Where once they ignored the needs Of others not so blessed In... My New Short Story - I am not publishing it all just the intro
until after the results of the competition in March. Life's Experiences Brianna’s legs ache in the humid heat of Brisbane’s late summer. She shifts her weight to the other leg. Sweat pools in the hollows behind her knees and rivulets trickle down her calves to streak the city dust coating her sandaled feet and bare ankles. She is not wearing stockings and now regrets following the advice of one of her flat mates on the use of fake spray on tan. The humidity and heat has made it patchy. She looks... The Kitten has been taken to the vet
She has been needled and wormed. She has had her bottom inspected to verify her sex. A most undignified procedure. Her teeth have been examined and she has been pronounced healthy. She has had the F4 and will get the F6 which will protect her against cat aids in about five weeks. She will have an operation in about three months or so to prevent new little kittens being born and another little person pleading with me to keep them. He will be none the wiser and neither will she. Sign in to see full entry.

Our cat Mitzie
We have a cat. Or should I say, 'we were given a cat by a well meaning friend'. The cat is very cute. However she craps on the bathmat despite having a litter box and being actively encouraged to use it. Only it. She has also pished on my son's bed twice and also the couch. I am beginning to feel that life in a catless home might be preferable to life in a cat inhabited house. At least it won't be as smelly. Nir loves the cat and tells me it needs 'time out' every time it does something wrong.... Sign in to see full entry.
