Uggh, you've just named one of my biggest pet peeves; yet, I do it myself...asking someone how they are, then not waiting (or let's be honest, really caring ) for the answer. The best friends I have are those that say, "No how are you REALLY???" And then not taking 'fine' for an answer. I agree; we shouldn't be false as Christians. Christ cut through the garbage to see what was really going on...so should we.

Justi, I walk into church and find a place that I feel the closeness of God and more often that not the people I meet, I give them a warm hug and a hi. Thank you for this wonderful write and your visit to my blog. I know how busy you have been and it is really nice to have you comment and like my poem. Take care.

Justi - unfortunately, to most people (primarily in the US) the question, "how are you" has taken the place of "hello."   It is simply a greeting, no less and no more.  So unless you hold a hand long enough, and look the person in the eye while asking the question, a simple reply is almost always given.  I've resorted to asking the question, Are you ok today?  Makes people have to stop and think before replying.  Gives me time to discern is there something more they may or may not want to say.   Who knows you may be used by God to "turn the tide" at your church.  God bless

Justi, could we talk, I like.  Yet, where does it end in a closed society?  Saying hello is a social skill many of today's heroes could stand a little practice in.  Learning to deal with and in society means being able to relate to others in a non-threatening way.  Parents tell me I have a kind face, but I wonder what ife would be like if I just did what I wanted, charging each one with dereliction, emotional abandonment, and abuse?  Me, I talk about the weather a lot.  People relate to that, and it goes way beyond christianity, sometimes developing new ideas in people's hearts and minds.
