SIDETRACKED NOW AND THAT IS FINE

I found squiggly straws, bubbles, sidewalk chalk and DVDs for the children, but I put them away with other items. What other items exactly they were I can't remember at this moment. This is all right on track for me. One year some of the children were coming in the late fall and we would not see them for Christmas so I bought gifts early, wrapped them all the pretty and put them out of the way since I think it was about the 4th of July or something and they weren't coming until late fall. Time... Sign in to see full entry.

Good Morning New Week

It is early Monday morning and a beautiful day, bright, not so hot yet and a slight breeze blowing. The Bass fishers have gone home, the lake is silent but maybe a barge slapping a runaway wave occasionally. It is so peaceful one would think the world was safe and refined. I am planning my work for the arrival of the children - really the little ones there are only three of them. I have to make Bear Pancakes and freeze them, Homemade mixes for them to bake cookies and little pocket books for... Sign in to see full entry.

TODAY IS A NEW DAY

I never dreaded nor looked forward to getting old. Now that I am here I would tell myself if I had it to do again I would do the same. I have learned so much about myself, others and life in general by coming into this era without expectations. There is so much baggage collected in earlier life that slows you down to looking into yourself and your wants and needs far too much. When you have reached an age, different from one to another I suppose you begin to look around you and see the world... Sign in to see full entry.

WELCOME HOME DEAR LADY MAGNOLIA

Darlin' we would have read the map for you. Oh forget that we would have picked you up had we known you wanted to come home. I have truly missed you even if we have been hanging out together on another one of these writing places. That one is the same except different. I am looking forward to some of your lovely chatter box daily stuff writing like the Three in one Magnolia Sisters and all that other good stuff. Is Max still missing his sleek, shinny and tall steel Vamps? That was one of my... Sign in to see full entry.

HOW VULGAR CAN IT GET BEFORE WE SAY 'ENOUGH ALREADY'?

There are so many layers to the audacity of some people that it is incredibly offensive to sane minds and consciences. Is this political correctness? It has not a single thread of correctness. If it is political you are backing Satan, on other could be so vulgar. It is considered 'hate speech' to speak disparagingly against a gay person or gay behavior! I declare that some of their behavior in a public venue is beyond hateful to others. How can sane people be expected to tolorate this? Baron... Sign in to see full entry.

THIS TIME OF YEAR TASTS GOOD

Fried squash blossoms, salads with fresh home grown butter lettuce and batches of herbs, laced with day lily and marigold blossoms. I like fresh steamed vegetables, home grown tomatoes and cucumbers. All these things appear to be fresher and tastier if they are home grown. We have a wonderful farmer's market. We have a small garden at home. If I had more land I would grow more; freeze and can enough to last all winter just as my Mother did, but I don't have enough space. Do any of you garden?... Sign in to see full entry.

JUST ONE MORE MONTH

Just one month, not really long at all, George and I will have all our children and grandchildren in our home. If this has never happened to you even if you have children you know what I am talking about. We have not had all our children in our home at one time in twenty five years. This is going to be a real celebration. It is time to make new headboards and bed-frames, paint rooms and tweak it all. I am about to cook and bake all that will freeze so we have time for enjoying one another with... Sign in to see full entry.

SPRINGS PROMISES

Our garden is such a joy you can almost see it growing. I love the fresh herbs. I snipped basil, marjoram, lemon thyme and lemon balm and chopped them to give a fruit salad a jump start and it was delicious. I think of spring like a new family. The little plants, or buds on the trees are like little babies with such promise of someday being a great scientist, a major league baseball player or a good family man who builds houses or drives a truck for a living. A good man is the promise. The same... Sign in to see full entry.

Restful Weekend

Man I am lazy tonight; worth less than a token, one of those little metal coins used for tax when I was little. I had not thought of them in years. I think they were gone before I was able to exercise the actual spending of money. I did rest this week end. I did things I love to do and they had been neglected for a long time. I sorted photographs, threw away a lot of things. I gathered costume jewelry and made potpourri for the nursing home where they have their penny auctions and love the... Sign in to see full entry.

WHAT TIME IS IT

Time is not a standardized thing. I hate to break this to you but time moves faster at some times than it does at other times. I remember at age ten or so I thought a day was a week long. Nothing ever happened fast enough. At eighteen I was impatiently waiting for twenty-one. At twenty-nine I wanted never to reach thirty. Now forty years later it seems birthdays come monthly and you increase a year in each. It is the most amazing thing. A project I once did in a few minutes can take most of a... THE DEADLY WEAPON HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED

What has been going on here on Blogit is a small sampling of what is happening in our culture. There is a great difference in disagreeing with and plain ridiculing those who have different opinions than yours. Not much of this has been going on for a while because the older (been on here longer) of us here know who you are and what you are about so we do not embrace a banter dialogue with you anymore. Those who do not understand the new weapon being used on people who don't value vulgar and... Sign in to see full entry.

Tonados, Tornados, Floods, Fires and More Fires

We are in a small town but the county is fairly large and there are many small communities around. We have had ten tornados in a week or so. Many have their homes crashed. An amazing thing is that hundreds of large and old trees were blown down but few houses were hit at all. Still it is a devastating thing it has gone through the mid-west and the east and we are only coming into tornado season here. One man lost 10 cows and 8 calves in one huddle under a huge tree. We all remember Katrina, no... Sign in to see full entry.

DON'T BLAME GOD WHEN ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE ON EARTH

God is Love! That does not mean He is sweet or even kind, it means he is just. True justice is a win-win situation in all cases. So often people think you are to be a sugar sweet thing all the time to be walking with the Lord, not so; however he will not put up with you espousing gutter snipe language that I so often see. If a person has two friends who do not know one another it is a scary thing for one friend to bad mouth that other friend of the common central friend. Is that convoluted... THAT OLD GREY MARE

Guess all of you are too young to remember about her but I can tell you it is true 'she ain't what she used to be.' I am slower at all things now than say fifty years ago, even forty. I need to take a few days off. It is about to be Mother's Day. I need to prepare for a visit from my daughter who is a good mother in her own right and I want to make it special for her. I wish my other two daughters (step) could be here too. They are like mine to me; however, they have a Mom and need to be with... Sign in to see full entry.

HAVE A HAPPY AND BLESSED WEEK-END A REALITY CHECK ONE

There is so much stress in the world today I plan to grab a good book and kick back for a few hours and begin a good weekend. I hope you will do something you really enjoy and be blessed in it. Reality is a difficult thing to wrap our heads around sometimes. We want a sweet flavor to all situations, can't be. We think if we don't believe something it is not real. You know how a little child often loves to argue with an adult for fun. Mama bounces a ball to the child and says ball. The child hits... Sign in to see full entry.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG BUT ALL THE WORLD FEELS LIKE AUTUM

We have our garden going well. It is such a blessing. To go right outside your door and gather things to make superb salads is a delight to me. It feels peaceful and gentle like the soft sun rays of Springtime. Lawns are growing and mowers are going. Sounds of children fills the air.Birds and squirrels scamper all over the trees and do their chatter. New life is being created and the cycle begins anew. While all this sweet and calm movement is about the forces of evil are making big brew ha! The... Sign in to see full entry.

I AM ASKING BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW

An incredible understatement would be, there is so much I don't understand. You know what, I believe that is true of all of us. I need to ask some of you some questions for my clarification. There seem to be so many people in this country who are ANTI-WAR under any circumstances. It isn't just that I don't understand that; I particularly don't understand that in view of what you do approve of that brings more death to innocents. 1. The same groups appear not to have any quarrel with 'honor... Sign in to see full entry.

WHEN A GOOD HAPPENING CAN'T BE EXPLAINED

Friday something happened to me that was so great I can't explain the joy. To some it may be no more than a trip to the 'wood shed' to me it was worth so much. My husband and I went to the grocery store. One of those times you run in just for an item and take along the other so you don't wind up blowing the weekly grocery budget. Immediately upon stepping into the store I saw this man walking toward us. I thought I knew him, yes it was him. About fifteen years ago a gangly kid over six feet tall... Sign in to see full entry.
