prompt: Found!

If looking for frog him name Hopkin Greenfrog... This was a note someone found blowing around in a park. Some 'finds' are scraps of paper with words on, found in old books, or pockets at a thrift store. Some are bits of metal twisted into new shapes, their original purpose unrecognizeable. Some are... Comments on Commas

Commas can be really confusing, especially because, where some are actually correct, they are not necessary, and, in fact, complicate reading more than they help. My personal approach is, to leave out the ones that are not necessary, for a reader to make sense of the material, on the first reading.... Sign in to see full entry.

An editorial rant: There is no such word as 'alright.'

It's all right. And it isn't alot, it's a lot. It's is the contraction of it is, and its is the possessive form. Speaking of contractions, it is never correct to say should of unless you are writing it into dialogue for someone ignorant of basic English: Should've is the contraction of should have.... Big Moon: photographic response to the prompt, and haikus

Getting a good clear shot of the moon isn't easy, especially when the contrast of deep dark and brilliant white confound the camera's limited eye. Somehow, I cajoled my Nikon to do it, all the same. http://www.flickr.com/photos/therovingeye/ Running through the hills I revel in the moonrise Over and... Sign in to see full entry.

prompt: The Big One

The moon is going to be full tomorrow night, and as big as big! The prompt is to write a poem of any kind, of the biggest full moon of the year. I am going to come up with something haiku or possibly tanka, as mentioned by Annacita. Sign in to see full entry.

a very short story: Change of Scenery

She can't help thinking, as the great proud shining buildings go by, that life comes back to the beginning, if it lasts long enough. As a child, she was always in the back seat. Father, always in the driver's seat, and Mother, always beside him in the front passenger seat, where the view was the... Sign in to see full entry.

prompt: Here comes the heat...

My little split-level home faces into the sun: east through the back windows, west through the front. The lower level back is built half underground, and the front... has a big wide window facing west. So, the back downstairs room is considerably cooler than the upstairs, and even the downstairs... prompt: What's Magic?

Magic is a beautiful plant, sprouting from a dry little seed I pushed into the soil. It's the sudden appearance of blossoms, a sea of color where it was all green before. It's things you can eat, that grow out of the flowers, sometimes a lot, like zucchini and pumpkins. Or its just flowers with... Sign in to see full entry.

prompt: Home

What makes a place home, for you? Years ago, for me, it was the long shelf of yellow-spined National Geographics--like the one in my parent's house--that defined it for me. I might get a subscription now, and start a new shelf, as a matter of fact. When I have a shelf. And home, for me, has long... Sign in to see full entry.

my prompt response

Mammoths. The last natural mammoths lived on an island, and had become a dwarf variant because their environment was so limited. They were around four feet tall at the shoulder. Elephants are among the most intelligent of Earth's species, and long-lived, if you don't figure in poachers. Perhaps... Sign in to see full entry.
