Making it up
TAPS posted about her discoveries of the use of makeup in the 1950s, and it started me on this little amble through the slightly less distant past... I was never much into makeup--special occasions, and used with a light hand: makeup should be noticed only as an effect, not as a thing in itself, was my theory. It was some years later, when I had my theater support/costuming shop, that I began to sell theatrical makeup, and learn how to use it. Still, all about effect. Of course, theatrical...
