Now I've done it...
I finally went and opened a blog where non-subscribed readers can find me. Don't mistake me--this is still home, where I don't really want everyone to have free entry. But for other purposes--such as making specific postings accessible to cheapskates family and friends who never come here, and for linking to samples of my writing, for the occasional resume or job application.
