According to the Book of Nicodemus

one of the so-called Lost Books of the Bible, Jesus kept busy on His three days between the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. He went, according to Nicodemus, to the Gates of Hell, and opened them, announcing to all there that they did not have to be there anymore. Hell was a different place in those days, of course.
