How about a 'teacher pizza' ?

Here are some ingredients from my second graders' 'wierd' recipes for milk shakes and pizza yesterday: A spider, 1000 gallons of pee, a dead person, some lightening, old shoes, an eraser, rocks, nose hair, nose bubbles, 13,900 underpants, chocolate syrup, 108 eyebrows, 500 bees, a rat, 9,999 ants... The sound of 22 giggling second graders

There was some extreme giggling going on in my once- a- week second grade speech class yesterday. The kids were having so much fun that they forgot they were in their formerly (before me) scary 'speech' class. We did some read- aloud material and then I had then making up 'weird' milkshake recipes... Sign in to see full entry.

How do you say goodbye to your website?

It's a little like breaking up... saying goodbye to your website, that is. I've been reluctant to do it but the site isn't serving my needs anymore. I am going to cancel it but as of yet, have been reluctant to do so. It feels like a part of my identity, even though it is really a part of an... Sign in to see full entry.

It's no Illusion

I want to recommend an excellent movie, "The Illusionist," playing in theaters now- starring Edward Norton (one of my favorite actors), Paul Giammati, and Jessica Biel. It's an intelligent movie, set in turn-of-the century Vienna. The magician explores the boundaries of reality in a way that is... Sign in to see full entry.

A different kind of 9/11 memorial

On this day seven years ago my Dad was mowing the lawn and had a sudden heart attack. Mom found him about 45 minutes later and he was gone. We didn't know that two years later, the date 9/11 would be remembered forever, by a lot more people than just our family. I can remember exactly what I was... Sign in to see full entry.

my two guys are dozing...

... I'm fixing supper and Mister Cat and Bruce are dozing on their respective sofas. I'm cooking lamb chops on the grill, green beans with garlic, mushrooms and pine nuts. I've miraculously recovered from my bronchitis after a mental health- healing day of motorcycling and movie-going (go figure!).... Sign in to see full entry.

Mister Cat is coming back to Blogit!

Mister Cat misses his blog and says that since Mom spends more time here than she does on her blogging avatar blog, that he should have his blogit blog back! He told me to tell you that he is developing lots of new material and will have his blog here back up soon, complete with photos. I'm feeling... Sign in to see full entry.

Got bronchitis remedies?

I am hoping it won't be a bad case of it- bronchitis, that is. You know the kind where your bronchial tubes really hurt and coughing hurts even more? If this was a work day, I'd call in sick....anyone have any good bronchitis remedies? Sign in to see full entry.

Oh, yes, it's Friday... and it was 'health week' for me...

Whew!!! This was health week, for me, on a lot of levels. Today, I kept thinking about how angry I got yesterday at the terrible twins but what I was thinking most about was how much fun it was to really get angry and do something about it! I tend to hold my anger in and this summer, I have been... Sign in to see full entry.

The terrible twins got kicked out of class today (their first day!)

The 'terrible twins' showed up for their first day of my older kids class (5-6 grade). They were dressed identically, striped tops and orange shorts, looking like a pair of Chinese demons, and I really couldn't tell them apart at all. They were running around the room, loudly shouting about erasers,... Sign in to see full entry.
