It was one of those days...

School was a real zoo today- the kids can be so incredibly demanding. They are so cute that I want to give everyone all of my attention; however, I think they know it and they use it to their full advantage! My younger kids were regular chatterboxes today-- it's often like this on Thursdays for some... Sign in to see full entry.

Guess who was here to welcome me home tonight?

I drove up to our house tonight, pretty tired, groceries in the trunk, enjoying a backdrop of a gorgeous red sunset, the kind we often have during warm dry weather. Guess who was sitting on the front corner of our roof to welcome me home?! It was my favorite hawk, "Little Guy" (aka Goose)! He is so... Sign in to see full entry.

30... count 'em 30! screaming second graders!

I've gotten too popular around there- this school is rather loosely run and I never know from one week to the next how many kids will be in my classes. Today, there weren't enough chairs or anything else for the 30 little bodies that showed up for my speech class. They had to share the 'Green Eggs... Sign in to see full entry.

Back to school today

... after a three-day weekend, and today is my long day, three back-to-back classes! The last one is my second grade speech class. It'll be interesting to see how they do with the Dr. Seuss reading. I guess today is really my 'Monday' - hope you all are having a good week! Sign in to see full entry.

My new favorite author...

How is it that I am just discovering Dr. Seuss? I guess maybe it is because I didn't have kids. He is my newest favorite author! His characters just crack me up. I feel like this little girl at times... Who is this wise looking character? I know all about the Cat in the Hat: But can anyone tell me... Sign in to see full entry.

I just choreographed 'Green eggs and ham'

...for five-part harmony! Picture 5 groups of 4 second graders- each reading alternating stanzas of Dr. Seuss's "Green Eggs and Ham"! It's going to be so cute. I think I will audio tape it. The kids are going to love it. Look for the report on Tuesday night... Sign in to see full entry.

Green eggs and ham!

This morning about 3:30am I decided what to do with my second grade speech class this week. I'm going to round up a bunch of Dr. Seuss poems and we'll have some read-aloud fun. Does anyone have any favorite Dr. Seuss poems to recommend? Sign in to see full entry.

Zen and the art of motorcycle cleaning...

My 'Dragon' got a bath today... and then, a total detailing. There I was, thinking, 'it's kind of like eating peanuts- once you start, you can't stop!" I doggedly went after every little spot-- bugs, bugs, bugs, in every conceivable place... but now, the chrome is shining like mirrors. I used the... Sign in to see full entry.

Super- glued to the rinocerous butt...

We were doing a thing about 'urban legends' today and I chose two funny ones for the older kids to evaluate, regarding which was true and which wasn't. Well, one of them was about someone being super-glued to a rinocerous butt and they all got a laugh out of that. The problem was, one of the parents... Sign in to see full entry.

The twins were back today... but they weren't terrible

Today, I was a little appalled to see that the 'twins' (formerly called, the terrible twins) were going to be back in my class today. I resolved to have a little talk with them about the previous incident (where I kicked them out of class their first day.) I told them that I knew we had gotten off... Sign in to see full entry.
