A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

You'll never guess where I was today... The MALL! Yes, you read that right. I was somehow persuaded to accompany my mom and sister to the mall to do some Christmas returning. As you can imagine, it was a NIGHTMARE! People fighting--fighting like vultures--for parking spots; stalking unsuspecting shoppers on their way to their cars so they would get their spot; waiting in lines to return, exchange or buy things; waiting in even longer lines to have lunch at the Nordstrom Cafe. I'm not going to be here tomorrow, so I thought I'd just drop a line to say Merry Christmas to all of you! Or, Happy Holidays, depending on what holiday you celebrate. The past few days have been for me, as I'm sure they've been for the rest of you, busy. Yesterday I saw my best friend from high school. Hopefully the members of my family aren't the only ones who are puzzled by the bizarre behavior of my grandmother. Well, where do I begin? My grandmother is 80 plus, stands at about 4'11, and weighs all of 80 pounds. This is due to the fact that the woman does not eat ANYTHING. So the seventh Harry Potter book has a title-- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I'm not sure that I like the name, but hey, JK Rowling could call it Harry Potter and the Attack of the Pink Fuzzy-Wuzzies or something, and people would still be lining up at midnight the night before in order to buy it. Wht is it about this book that everyone loves so much? True, the story is good, but the books aren't particularly well written. Still no word on the release date, but its been calculated that,... Honestly, I have nothing new or original or groundbreaking to say. The weather in Arizona is slightly more chilly than I'd expected. I'd packed several sweaters, thinking I wasn't going to need them--thank goodness I did! The days out here have been spent shopping mostly--I've got everything done. Last night we went out to Costco to pick up a number of things. I'm always amazed when I go in to that store. It reminds me of why America is sometimes thought of as the land of excess.
