Yesterday evening I went out to Barnes and Noble to do some Christmas shopping. My roommate is quite a prankster, so when I saw a "lump of coal" gag gift/ stocking stuffer, I thought I just might get it for him. Then I thought, eh, well, no, and got him a gift card instead, since I had no idea what to give him. When I came home I had difficulty unlocking the door. Because of all the construction that has been going on in our building, one of the workers came yesterday to sand the door and fix... Sign in to see full entry.

The biggest tragedy in New York building demolition history
I recently learned something very interesting about New York's Penn Station. For any of you who haven't been there, the station is entirely underground--it sits below Madison Square Garden. The tracks are three and four stories below the main terminus, and is accessable by six different subway lines, the A,C, E, 1, 2, and 3. It's a downright ugly station and absolutely nothing like the station that was built in 1905-11. It was built by the Pennsylvania Railroad as its terminus in New York so... Sign in to see full entry.
I'm having a problem...
That I was wondering if you could help me with. Occasionally, for the past few days or so, when I click on a blog, I'll reach the blog but the most recent posts from that blog sometimes won't appear. Does anyone know what's going on with this? And how I can solve the problem? IM leads me to say things to people that I wouldn't DARE say to their faces. For example, this weekend when some of the rest of you were dealing with all that drama, I IM'd M saying that although I know he hasn't exactly... Sign in to see full entry.

Tickle Me Elmo and vacation plans
Tickle Me Elmo turns ten this year. Every year, versions come out that are different from the last--for example, last year's TME dances and sings to "Shout," and the year before that, he danced to the tune of "YMCA." This year's version, the TMX Elmo, sounds downright scary--he's "hysterically laughing, belly-clutching, floor-thumping Elmo." Beats me why this toy is the "hot" item this year--he sounds like a downgraded version of the original. For the price its selling for, I would have thought... Sign in to see full entry.

I HAVE AN INTERNSHIP!!!
Its at a literary agency on 35th street, spitting distance from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. The man who runs the agency used to be the director of the book section of the publishing course I took this past summer. I originally e-mailed him asking him for an informational interview, but he did me one better, I guess. What the job entails is going through the slush pile, reading, and writing rejection letters. They need someone who's a self-starter, who doesn't need to be told when... Sign in to see full entry.
