I try to think up gifts for my neighbor's birds. And each of us gives our
house presents. I guess it's kind of a pet, too.

A dog bowl? I agee. Very, very odd.

Of course pets need presents too!! I wrote several articles for AC on what to get your pets...but my own cats have been bad so they're not getting anything. ;-)
