A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

Today I went with the family up tp Prescott, Arizona, to see some family friends up there. They've got an RV, and we wanted to see it. The drive is about an hour and a half, and very scenic--you don't see stuff like that back east. We also brought Teddy, our Welsh springer spaniel with us. Anyways, we ate lunch in the "downtown" area: a courthouse surrounded on all four sides by roads lined with shops and other establishments, most of which were saloons. Out of curiosity, I alwayss look online to see what kinds of jobs in the media are open. I don't actually apply to any of these jobs, because I've been expressly forbidden to (book publishing in New York is, as you might figure, an extremely competitive field to get into and most people get their jobs through connections). Anyways, today I found a job ad for a field sales position in book publishing (textbooks) which is entry-level; they want people with a GPA of 3.5 or above. And people without... He's planning his whole trip around me, which I feel kind of bad about. I was confused about what his schedule was. He has to be back in Virginia for work and school on the 14th, and he's thinking about coming and staying for a whole week after I get back in town. Do I really want him staying for so long? I've been enjoying a very, very lazy day. I'm tired of running around all day returning and exchanging gifts, so it was nice to relax for a little while. As I've been doing pretty much this whole vacation. Last night I went out with the rest of my family to dinner with my best friend J and her family at Maggiano's. Its a really great restaurant, but they always give you so much food! I think after appetizers and such, I only ate a little bit of my linguine with clam sauce. So I guess its icebox... I personally didn't get anything that was too tacky--but my dad got a set of Christmas lights in the shape of cowboy boots. I can only assume they were meant as a gag gift, much as the lump of coal I gave my roommate was a gag gift... but still. One year my parents got a book from family friends we're not that close to, who were notorious for re-gifting. Inside was an inscription to our friends from someone else!
