NOW I AM THANKFUL FOR SURE

We got the cards delivered. Made a Thanksgiving feast of sorts and enjoyed some of the children. I am truly thankful for everyday. It is now Sunday and I can cool out! I flopped into my chair with a good book. Lunch was over. Church was over and I was toasty and half asleep when George turned on the television. I saw all over the world there is more and more descension, anger, death and other crime. Life is so nice, peaceful and joyful when lived without those actions. Why do some whole nations... I KNOW, I KNOW BUT

Now I am into high gear. I have to address about 80 cards tonight which is such a delight. We, a friend and I, will be taking cards by individual name to the nursing home so they will have something personalized and fun for Thanksgiving. We will do that tomorrow. I only address them. My friend makes them they are fantastic with moving parts, cartoon characters and more. Tuesday and Wednesday I will be getting my meal together for Thanksgiving. My daughter and grandson will be here. George's will... Sign in to see full entry.

A NAKED MAN ON A BICYCLE IS NOT A PRETTY SIGHT

We all have an opinion. There are times we fabricate an opinion on things, issues and conditions that fit our time, social order or financial situation that is not compatible with others. Why? I think maybe to stand out. Maybe it is to be thought to know things we do not. Nudity is my box of 'Opinion Seeking' today. I must have been sleeping when laws were passed that allowed one to walk around or ride bicycles even buck naked without being arrested for lewdness. Well that is in the USA. It does... LIFE CAN BE GOOD ON THE UNDERBELLY

I raised three children without child support of clipping coupons. Wow did I earn a silver medal? Phooey! I didn't do squat compared to mine and George's daughters and the expenses, the care and all sorts of things that were not issues when they were little. I bought a brand new car when my children were little for $1,800 I can't believe that now. I sent them all to camp and the youngest to private school one year. Now I am clipping coupons, eating all left overs, turning off lights, and keeping... Sign in to see full entry.

I TRUST HIM TO STOP THE ERROSION OF OUR HISTORY

One detail that is never mentioned is that in Washington, D.C. there can never be a building of greater height than the Washington Monument. With all the uproar about removing the ten commandments, etc., this is worth a moment or two of your time. I was not aware of this amazing historical information. On the aluminum cap, atop the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., are displayed two words: Laus Deo. No one can see these words. In fact, most visitors to the monument are totally unaware... HERE IT IS. MAYBE THE MOST EXCITING MOMENT OF GEORGE'S LIFE

We prayed for years to be reconciled with his three children. Only seven years ago did we find where they were. A lovely young woman, Naturespirit23 who is a Blogit member is the oldest of the three and was the first to respond after we called. His son Eric was with the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. When we spoke to him he gave us permission to come visit him. We did that immediately. It was an awesome time. Next we began to correspond and communicate with both him and... Sign in to see full entry.

I'LL TELL YOU TOMORROW!

I have the most outrageously wonderful story to tell you tomorrow. Why wait until tomorrow. Well it only happened today and it is a big story. It will take me a bit of time to mold it and nurture it. I promise you will be happy for me. No I am not pregnant, but I keep thinking that is like measles; continued exposure could bring about a repeat of the disease. I am not on any of Obama's short lists for any thing, not even on the cleaning crew. See you here tomorrow, same station and at the same... Sign in to see full entry.

I REFUSE TO WORRY NOW ~ IT IS TOO LATE~

Why didn't someone smarter than I get this. That would not have taken a rocket scientist to be smarter than I. Year before last the company my husband works for lowered the salaries in his department. This was a shocker. Well we adjusted, became a little more careful about keeping to the budget. Then last year half his department was transfered to another one and that further reduced his income. This year all of the company had their hours cut by working only two weeks out of the month. He has... Sign in to see full entry.

I HAVE COMMANDMENTS TO KEEP ~ NOT JUST THE ORIGINAL 10~

I’ll admit this election did not turn out as I had hoped. I supported McCain primarily because I am pro-life and I prefer his small-government mindset. But now that the election is over, I’m not going to harbor bitterness toward Obama supporters or go into attack mode. Obama has been elected president of this country, and that means I have a biblical responsibility to support him in prayer—even if I challenge his policies. Whether you voted for Obama or not, you need to pray for him. Here are 10... Sign in to see full entry.

WHAT A TEA PARTY

Yesterday was such a fun day for a small group of six to eight year olds. I helped a friend give them a tea party. It was a surprise they could wear anything until they arrived. Then they were presented with hats, beads, and brightly colored furry purses all outfitted with brush, comb, lipstick (gloss). They were absolutely precious. The woman in the above photo is the hostess. They are called The GGs or Gods Girls. They do service like visit the nursing homes, light cleaning jobs in the church... Sign in to see full entry.

THE SUN IS SETTING ON FALL & I'M COOKING

I am pretty much a coward when it comes to cold weather. The first nip of frost or cold breezes and I go house bound. My husband eats really well in the winter. I make his lunches and freeze them in the fall, enough to last a long time. Today I have a long line of goodies going: Turnip greens, Sweet Potato Medley (apples raisins and such) Mac and Cheese, Meatloaf, Corn Cheese Pudding, Brussel Sprouts, Green Peas and Carrots and Pork Chops (I cut myself from a long tender low fat loin cut). I... Sign in to see full entry.

YES THE SOUTH IS NEAR PARADISE

Here it is almost November and I have tomatoes blooming and a watermelon. Of course we know left to the winds and how they blow they will not bear. We have dug the tomato plants out of our winter lettuce and potted them inside our sorta 'green house'. I kid you not look at the photographs below that George took day before yesterday. YES IT IS AN EMAIL I WISH I HAD THIS OPPORTUNITY. HOW ABOUT YOU?

The Sack Lunches I put my carry-on in the luggage compartment and sat down in my assigned seat. It was going to be a long flight. "I'm glad I have a good book to read. Perhaps I will get a short nap," I thought. Just before take-off, a line of soldiers came down the aisle and filled all the vacant seats, totally surrounding me. I decided to start a conversation. "Where are you headed?" I asked the soldier seated nearest to me. "Chicago - to Great Lakes Base. We'll be there for two weeks for... Sign in to see full entry.

BLOGGERS BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR

You see the last time I wrote here I was befuddled by having nothing exciting to write about. Well I didn't have an Epiphany but I have had a trinity of happenings that turned things upside down. The first one occurred last week when I was harvesting my wonderful mustard greens. My garden is on a slight slope in the back yard. I stood up to move my little stool. When I reached for it I missed it fell and just began rolling like Jill. I had scissors in my hand and was trying to drop them but... Sign in to see full entry.

TODAY IS A LOVELY DAY IN THE BLOGIT NEIGHBORHOOD

So what do I ever do that is interesting enough to write about in a Journal category? I haven't a clue. Perhaps you would like to make some suggestions. I can't get into new things until after I give my house a good cleaning, really good cleaning. I have to paint the whole upstairs too. Oh and I need to can greens for the winter. Maybe I should stock up candles as well. Get kerosene for our heaters and be ready. Have any of you seen utility increases yet? We had a 20% increase in electricity.... Sign in to see full entry.

THIS DOES CONCERN YOU TOO!

Do you remember any of this. I do. Is this concern for us to be afraid. No it is certainly concern for us to look at the reality of what is happening in the world today and not be rash about decisions we make. We can be giving this country to Islamic destruction if we are not careful. Islam is not our friend. Not in any shape, form or fashion. We must not forget that. We are calling these people extremist. The religion of Islam is extreme in its notion of death. These events are actual events... Sign in to see full entry.

I AM CHILLIN'

My husband's daughter and I claim her as my own, NaturesSecret23 from Blogit is here for the week-end and I plan to cool out and visit with this dear young woman. There is just the tiniest chill in the air. Hopefully we will not have any frost for another month. I am truly enjoying my fall garden and so is my family. I am really concerned that people have not been studying history and that they do not know what to expect from this election. If you look at the past closely enough you will see the... MY JAIL MINISTRY GIRLS

They filed in one following after the other Each like the other looking lost All scoping the floor with a sad countenance Dressed in highway zebra orange jump suits Silver chains joined their legs ankle to ankle Clanging rhythmically with each sliding step Emotional accessories clung to them Like jeweled baubles worn in the night street trade Around their necks were pearls of hopelessness As mothers they word badges of lost children on their hearts They drank from all the youth fountains early... WHERE DOES THE CRAP IN OUR WORLD STOP?

Tomorrow we begin another session of our work with the recovery group. Last monday I began with another group who is doing a women's jail ministry. I had worked before with the men's jail ministry but not the women. I can't imagine how we think tax changes will help the situations we have all over the country. We only had five women in our city jail that night. Out of those two were grandmothers at an age under forty. All five had their children taken away. All gave the excuses that they were...
