oopsie

I meant to add some pictures of the changes since before I moved in... https://flic.kr/s/aHsjEgvtCs Sign in to see full entry.

Something strange is happening here...

Is it the power of spring? Of warm airs blowing over the lands? Is it the next level of relaxation with the fading of the pandemic (though it has a considerable way yet to go)? Is it a shift in myself? It started with cleaning up the Dove Deck, and with shifting many so-potentially-useful cardboard boxes to the garage. Then I had some company over--the first in more than a year--and stimulated by some generous and gratifying comments, as I rise from the doldrums of the past months I am looking... Saturday satisfactions

It's in the 70s F today, 20s C. There are breezes and clouds, and thunderstorms loom in the forecast. The dovelings are flapping their wings in the nest, making flight muscles, getting ready... I expect them to fly next week some time. I've had a couple of very enjoyable, sociable days. First, there was Minerva and our marathon getting-to-know-you tea party/bbq, and the next day one of my favorite people messaged me wondering if at such short notice I could help her pick up some furniture. She... Sign in to see full entry.

It was a good Thursday!

Spring is here with warm, sunny days and the occasional storm-banger. They are telling us that at least in this part of Colorado, the drought of the past several seasons is over. That's very encouraging for the garden! After Charlie and I cleared and cleaned up the front deck, and I got it dressed up with some new I invited someone over yesterday for some getting-acquainted tea and chat. It segued into Charlie's bbq next door in the evening, and she finally headed home coming up on 10 pm. I've... Sign in to see full entry.

Eclipse and encounters

Charlie woke me up around 4 this morning, as I'd asked him to do if the ongoing lunar eclipse was visible. We get a lot of cloudy skies when there are heavenly events, like great meteor showers, and lunar eclipses. In fact, there was only partial visibility because of mists over the hills and mountains of our western horizon. But there were windows in the mists, so there were moments of clear viewing as totality approached. But... the windows closed, the curtains came down, and at the time of... Friday and Saturday: Events and Recoveries

We've had the rain, the wind, the storms with hail and thunder... This morning was all grey and drizzly... But now, 11AM, the sun is shining on us, and temps are bound upwards to the 70s this afternoon. Or 20s, if you don't do Farenheit. Friday was the 3rd Friday Open Air Art Show at Academy Art & Frame, here in the Springs. It was a short event, open from 3-7PM, and it took about 3 hours to get the set-up set up. Charlie set up his Wasteland Bears and his wood-burning items. I had a long card... Sign in to see full entry.

Wednesday plans and expectations.

I can re-affirm that birds start their day just after 4 in the morning. I woke that early, before them, and found my brain too busy for further sleep, so turned on the light and read a while--Morgan Llewellan's LION OF IRELAND, a novel of Irish history, the life of Brian Boru--but that did not bring sleep. I got up, made some oatmeal and unloaded the dishwasher. I got on the laptop for bit while I ate. Then--back to bed again. When I woke again, the birds were much noisier and busier, and Pike's... Feeling very Mondayish

It's raining out there... a gentle rain, a 'female' rain as the Hopi identify it, that soaks in quietly and then rises up through the roots, the stems and leaves of the plants that went into the ground a few days ago. This is what they've been waiting for! After nearly 35 years in the Puget Sound area, I got quite used to lots of grey days, lots of rain. One of the attractions of Colorado Springs has always been the sunshine, so much that days of overcast and rain become welcome and enjoyable.... Sign in to see full entry.

ooo, you wee moosies!

It's not quite 6:30 in the evening, but the day is heavy with clouds, and twilight is coming on early. We have not seen as much actual rain as I'd like, for the sake of the garden. Once again, the wee moosies have misjudged: Do not, wee moosies, nibble during the day when hoomans are about! For hoomans are canny and quick of hearing! The tiny nibbling sound was coming from the pantry, to my great chagrin. It's a cupboard of four deep shelves, about two by two feet and 18 inches high, each one. I... Sign in to see full entry.

Productive Saturday!

Blue skies and clouds, breezes blowing in the occasional storm... But we had enough time this morning to do some garage shiftings and shufflings. Charlie does the heavy work, of course, and I do whatever driving comes into it. His motivation today is to create a space in his garage to set up a weight-lifting bench. He and his housemates checked out a local workout joint, and decided it offered too little for the costs, so they'll set up their own. It's going to take a while, and cost a few...
