Here it is evening. One clock says it's almost 9, the other says it's just about 8. I have been up since 5 this morning... or was it 6? It has been a quiet day, mostly spent online, with a few breaks from my game to shift plants and clean things. There are now more plants in the bathtub, and some of the dining room table has emerged from under the transported deck garden. Much of the aquarium gear has been boxed and moved to the garage. Tomorrow we'll be running around town some, food-shopping,... Sign in to see full entry.

Letting go
Thanks to you all who have left messages on the previous post. I so much appreciate that Embers was not just my cat, she was our cat, all the people I shared her with here and in person. It has been a weekend of ups and downs, of calm and purpose and tears, as I let go of Embers and her presence in this place. There is some cleanup to do where her catbox sat in the bathtub, and the box will be washed and put away. All the medications that were only a little used, those will be boxed up to be... Sad...
We said goodbye to Embers today. I knew when I adopted her 6 years ago, aged 15, that this time would come. When she developed kidney disease, aged 21, I know it was only a matter of months, maybe a year. But she went downhill pretty quickly, six months from the first diagnosis. Her kidney function numbers were so bad, she was not eating, and she was down another pound and a half from her last vet weigh-in, just barely 6 lbs. Doc said if she were human, she'd be on 24/7 dialisis. At best, we... Sign in to see full entry.

Tuesday
Here it is, almost bedtime after a busy Tuesday. We dropped our ballots in the box yesterday evening, and I am content to wait for results to roll in through the week. I've pretty much recovered from the weekend, enough to do a shopping trip to the thrift store for the senior discount day. That resulted in the acquisition of a couple of shelf units for the desk which has reappeared this past week, and that meant some further cleaning up, tossing out, re-organizing... I am finally learning to... Sign in to see full entry.

Weekend at Denver FanExpo
The convention formerly known as Denver Comicon was where we were this past weekend. It was immense! I got lost the first time I went strolling around, took quite some time and luck to locate Charlie's booth again. It's by far the biggest we've ever participated in as exhibitors--or at all, I guess! He had a tower of Wasteland Bears--17 of them, of which 11 found homes and new best friends. There were also many of his other creations, new and old. At the very end of the show, Sunday evening, the... Sign in to see full entry.

quick morning note
I'm just about ready to go out the door for the second day of Fan Expo. Costume is bagged up, and makeup kit, and all the stuff I will apply at the site. We are taking our own food as the gougers at the site are not making much food I can eat, and charging ridiculous money for it. No other food is allowed in, but we'll have it in the truck and hotel room. Yes... the venue for once is not a hotel, but we will stay overnight in one a short walk--as if any walk for me, is short! And Vale will be... Sign in to see full entry.

a golden Tuesday
The night was interrupted by waking up around 3, and the mind starting in chewing over things I can't seem to just let be. So I was up a while, continuing yesterday's progress at clearing up the messy, messy desk. I was hungry, too--another thing that wakes me up--so ate some soup and bread. I am pushing my supper time later these days, so as to eat enough before going to bed to keep me through the night. Should have done that last night, but ate too early. So, back to bed around 5... reading... Sign in to see full entry.

Golden afternoon
After getting out to run errands and enjoy the fall colors around town, I sat much the rest of the afternoon looking out at the great golden-yellow maple tree. It's leaves have not yet begun to fall--just a couple I saw fluttering off like butterflies today though we had some pretty strong breeziness going on. Recent years I have missed this lovely show. Two years ago, I was in Seattle watching the colors there, while waiting for the birth of Louisa Corinne Bell, getting back here the beginning... Sign in to see full entry.

Sunday soundtrack
Today, the musical accompanyment has been flashmobs on youtube gathering in good accoustical public places, a few musicians at a time, playing Ode to Joy and Ravel's Bolero, the 1812 Overture... Then a few pieces by the HU, a Mongolian band with an amazing dynamic sound! I woke this morning to the sounds of distant thunder storm. Well, "Distant Thunder Storm" which is one of the nature sounds Alexa plays on request. Sometimes, its "Frogs and Crickets" or maybe sounds of rain. Even when the door... Sign in to see full entry.

Saturday early
It's a cool morning again, but we expect to reach 70F today, so with the clear air and the blue sky, the moon not quite setting yet, it's likely to be one of the nice fall days. The big maple is a rich golden yellow mostly now, with still a few bits of green. Last year we had no bright colors, as the early hard freezes just turned all the leaves to brown. I just saw a blue jay--the kind with white and blue and a bit of black, not our sooty-grey and blue Stellar's jays. It landed in the big blue... Sign in to see full entry.
