Baby, it's cold outside, and gonna stay cold all day! Things that are frozen will stay frozen, and Zorro has padded in and around this warmer-than-outside house twice this morning. Could be colder, it's in the high 20s, not expected to reach freezing today at all. Charlie hosed down the doll house yesterday evening--don't even ask why he waited through a day in the 50sF to get it done! And then he brought it back inside where I sprayed it again with disinfectant. Now it sits on the dining room... Sign in to see full entry.

And here it is.
Well, my grandson who lives next door with Charlie has tested positive for one covid or another. He didn't get his booster until last week, so that may play a part in his getting infected. The end of the week I'll get the test that takes a couple of days for results. Charlie and I have had several more weeks to build up resistance, so we'll just have to see if it was enough. All in all, though, I am glad we didn't skip COSine from fear of being exposed. We would still have the exposure here, we... Sign in to see full entry.
After the party is over...
Well, COSine was successful for meeting up with old acquaintances and friends, and Charlie did well financially. I found some pre-read books I've been hankerin' after, to read again, after decades, for the first time, again. CJ Cherryh was present via Zoom, so that wasn't a total loss when both she and her partner got sick and had to cancel their presence in person. Charlie and I are hanging out in our own sides of the duplex, as we were exposed to covid at the convention over the weekend. Just... Sign in to see full entry.

First day done
COSine got off to a slow, slow start, and some of that was because of snow, snow, snowing with high winds and making driving on the freeway kinda scary! But we got there and a miracle occured with a close-to-the-door parking spot. This place offers one handicap space next to 4 others marked specifically for Wounded Veterans. Now, I have nothing against veterans, I appreciate them for their sacrifices. But they can also park in handicap designated spaces if they are handicapped. But there need to... Friday is or is not Show Day!
Here it is, Friday morning, the day COSine is supposed to be starting. But the recent increase in covid/omicron stats has discouraged many from attending. We are ourselves still debating whether to go. We can mask and distance and use sanitizer every little while, but I still have the remnants of a cough from last month's bad cold, and Charlie has a morning sore throat and some cough from, probably, running a currently un-filtered heating system at home. The organizers have put in tremendous... Sign in to see full entry.

Thursday before CoSine
Strange dreams, almost a story. One element was a bunch of wires, some sort of scientific recording thing, patched into my left arm and cut off about a foot away from the skin. In the dream, I put on a jacket to hide them. When I woke up, my left arm was stiff and aching all around the elbow. I think a hot shower pounding on it a while will make that a lot better. I suspect I just slept on it funny. Today will be warm, approaching 60F, but down to the teens tonight. Any outdoors stuff will need... Sign in to see full entry.

Zorro, Dylan, and Buddy
My friend Zorro has stopped by several times this evening. Sometimes I think he has gone, then he appears from under furniture or downstairs. I noticed something on his last visit which I forgot to mention here: He is wearing a collar now, with a little bell and a little cannister on it. I unscrewed the cannister and found a note tightly curled up in it. It was handwritten, said This is Dylan I have been taking care of Buddy... Interesting. I think it means the cat is known to someone named... Sign in to see full entry.

And here it is again: Tuesday!
The tail bone feels better today. It's amazing, the healing value of whining! And no mice have tripped the traps in the kitchen, bedroom, or by the birdcage since day before yesterday. It will be warmish today, near 60F, and tomorrow--near 70! I can begin to clean up the deck since the windstorms of December and while I was away rearranged things. The doll house can get hosed down and disinfected, and then I have to decide where it's going to go when it comes back into the house. That will call... Sign in to see full entry.

Doom Box
Recently I heard the term, a new one for something I have been doing for years. A 'doom box' is that random box saved to be useful, into which one puts odds and ends, accumulated clutter to be sorted and filed properly at some later date. And sometimes, eventually, possibly, maybe that day of sorting and accountability actually does arrive! Im the meantime, the living room, dining room, other rooms look like you live an orderly life. On that day, treasures are found! Things set aside, out of... Sign in to see full entry.

Merry Sunday!
Here it is, a grey Sunday morning, cold though not terribly. I still ache, but not terribly. There is white on the ground, accumulated over the past hour or two, but it will not last through today's temps in the 40s. One more mouse is free to go about its next life elsewhere than my kitchen. Yesterday evening, with Charlie's help, the doll-house project which has been acting as shelves between my comfy chair and the bird cage went outside where, when the sun comes out later today it will get...
