Downs and Ups

Last night I went to bed feeling glum and isolated. I woke this morning still feeling sad, tears on the threshold. After spending yesterday mostly sitting and online, I decided that today I need to accomplish some things, because that and moving around is a very good treatment for the glums. This morning I've set out fresh food and warm water for the Community Cats. I've prepared Marika's birthday gift for shipping. Her birthday was Jan 11. I found the tyvex envelope for that letter I wrote on... Sign in to see full entry.

Do you watch the numbers?

When I started with Blogit quite a few years ago, I obsessed with some of the number. I watched where my pennies went, I watched how many visitors came in day by day. I kept track of my position on various counts like 'most read' and 'most comments' and where I was compared to other writers in numbers of clicks. That was early days... Now, I generally check the average pennies coming in day by day--this month so far it's ~.11 per day. Sometimes it's less, occasionally as much more as.20/day. Not... Sign in to see full entry.

Results are in

Charlie and I, to our surprise, both tested negative for covid with the PCR test. There has been some notion, though it is arguable, that type makes a difference. We are both O+, and early research suggested that O is less susceptible to serious infection by covid. More recent research suggests that early research was not as meaningful as all that. We are still both type O, and negative. Also vaxxed and boosted, so there's that. Sign in to see full entry.

Sunday and still waiting...

Here is Sunday nearly gone, and no results from our covid PCR tests last Thursday. We are both feeling pretty much okay, in any case. I have been napping just about every day, but that's normal for me. In part, I lie down to not be sitting on my still-aching tailbone, start reading, and doze off. Dozing while reading is a strange thing: I wander off the words in the book and their images, to my own images which are sometimes quite as interesting as the written ones. There is an in-between place... Sign in to see full entry.

Freya's Day

Chilly this afternoon, but not cold. Kind of a relief, even though only 40F and grey-skied. Yesterday the testing got done, and while it didn't hurt, it was not all that pleasant. They say it's kind of a tickle, but it isn't a nice tickle. What was great, though, was the tech who did the testing. He was a young black man with an oddness to his speaking I couldn't place. So as there was no one waiting behind us, I asked. New Zealand! He's from New Zealand! We had a nice chat about the beauty of... Sign in to see full entry.

The Day that is Thor's

It's a hoarfrost morning! All the trees, branch, twig, needle and whatever leaves still cling, are frosted white in an atmosphere of fog and cold, cold air! It is 13F outside, and last night I left the heat on low and the sliding back door just wide enough open for a cat to come in. Zorro, in fact, visited around 3AM, waking the birds who wakened me. Zorro finds the birds way too interesting, as is hardly surprising! I came out when the bird-alarm went off, and Zorro was startled and ran back... Sign in to see full entry.

Woden's Day

Baby, it's cold outside, and gonna stay cold all day! Things that are frozen will stay frozen, and Zorro has padded in and around this warmer-than-outside house twice this morning. Could be colder, it's in the high 20s, not expected to reach freezing today at all. Charlie hosed down the doll house yesterday evening--don't even ask why he waited through a day in the 50sF to get it done! And then he brought it back inside where I sprayed it again with disinfectant. Now it sits on the dining room... Sign in to see full entry.

And here it is.

Well, my grandson who lives next door with Charlie has tested positive for one covid or another. He didn't get his booster until last week, so that may play a part in his getting infected. The end of the week I'll get the test that takes a couple of days for results. Charlie and I have had several more weeks to build up resistance, so we'll just have to see if it was enough. All in all, though, I am glad we didn't skip COSine from fear of being exposed. We would still have the exposure here, we... Sign in to see full entry.

After the party is over...

Well, COSine was successful for meeting up with old acquaintances and friends, and Charlie did well financially. I found some pre-read books I've been hankerin' after, to read again, after decades, for the first time, again. CJ Cherryh was present via Zoom, so that wasn't a total loss when both she and her partner got sick and had to cancel their presence in person. Charlie and I are hanging out in our own sides of the duplex, as we were exposed to covid at the convention over the weekend. Just... Sign in to see full entry.

First day done

COSine got off to a slow, slow start, and some of that was because of snow, snow, snowing with high winds and making driving on the freeway kinda scary! But we got there and a miracle occured with a close-to-the-door parking spot. This place offers one handicap space next to 4 others marked specifically for Wounded Veterans. Now, I have nothing against veterans, I appreciate them for their sacrifices. But they can also park in handicap designated spaces if they are handicapped. But there need to...
