Phantom Canyon Road, Colorado

It was once a train route, now it is a twisty, windy road with some very narrow places, and many wide spots so vehicles in each direction can pass safely. We saw maybe a dozen other drivers, and several motorcyclists in the near-30 miles. https://flic.kr/p/2nRpDX5 Sign in to see full entry.

A New Colorado Adventure

Today's day trip was all about the autumn colors up in the mountains. We drove first up Hwy 24 to Divide, then went south on 67 to Victor. The leaves are at their early peak right now, and the day was sunny with big clouds moving over the mountains. https://flic.kr/p/2nRiGpX After lunch in Victor,... Sign in to see full entry.

Going for a walk?

https://flic.kr/s/aHsmN7E2GF One of my favorite collections on Flickr... Footpaths and Trails! I have never been able or willing to resist the pull of a wild-country trail! And on every one, either in person or in photo, I always think of our TAPS who loves them, too! Sign in to see full entry.

Rocky Mountains day trip

The 16+ miles of moderately 'washboard' road leads through the area of rugged geology and burn-scar and unburnt forest a ways from Walden, CO which was the area of the massive Beaver Creek wildfire in 2016. Much has grown back since then, and the road leads through areas that did not see the flames... Sign in to see full entry.

new photos: Sunset over the Front Range

The rain was in the air between here and the mountains, but it never quite got to my house. It did put on a lovely show, though! https://flic.kr/ps/rhS1C Sign in to see full entry.

New photos from a familiar place

The heat, that is... a bit of wind for an hour or so, and suddenly the temps drop 10 degrees, even before the rains reach us as they come over Pike's Peak! Weather forecasts promise cooler days to come through the end of July. Temps coming down, gas prices coming down--saw 4.54/gal today--Political... Sign in to see full entry.

Colorado skies

The moon rose night before last in a hazy sky--likely, smoke in the atmosphere from the currently burning wildfires across the west and southwest. https://flic.kr/ps/rhS1C Sign in to see full entry.
