The fabulous Blooming Onion

I've eaten them in restaurants a couple of times, but I've never tried to make one at home, until now. I looked online at recipes, and the thing is, I don't really want (or need) the deep-fried, battered version. So I have cut off the ends, and cut down ~3/4 of the way through, annointed the top...
