On this Father's Day...
Father's Day... I had a difficult relationship with my father. He was not a natural parent, was narcissistic though not malignant nor malicious about it. He simply wanted to live his own life unperturbed by distractions such as children. Which is not to say that he was not attached to us in his way, and aware of it from time to time when it came to sharing what he found fascinating in the world, and when we responded, in his estimation, appropriately.
