I'm thinking about death today
As I mentioned the other day, on Wednesday evening, my sister's husband passed quietly from life. I hardly know what to say to my sister, or to our mother, who is really her mother and my stepmother. While that distinction doesn't always matter, at this moment, it is significant: There is a sympathy, an empathy that has its roots in the very cells, between mother and child.
