Unlearn Fear to Reach Union With the Divine

Each day is a battle for me. Each day I awaken full of energy, ready to face the day and to try and make the right choices along the way. The trouble is, my vices wake up with the same energy level. They too, are ready to make the right choices – right for them but not for me. When the alarm goes off each morning, it is like the bell ringing for the start of a boxing match. Both fighters (myself and my vices) come out and begin the process of feeling each other out – what are the strengths and... Sign in to see full entry.

Love and Hate. Both Are Conscious Choices for The Spiritually Immature

I awaken each day with a plan. That plan is simple. That plan is love. It’s a conscious choice that I make each day, and it is an easy choice for me. I love because love attracts me. Like a hummingbird to nectar, I move toward love. Love is beautiful, attractive and unselfish. Hate, on the other hand, repels me. It is ugly, disgusting and vile. Jealousy is another I stay away from. That green-eyed monster repulses me. It is the ultimate in selfishness: “I love you. You must love me. No one else... Sign in to see full entry.

Yeshua Wasn't/Isn't Real. So What?

Yeshua never existed. There is no historical data proving his existence. The Romans, who kept detailed legal records, have no record of him. There are records presented as real that turned out to be forgeries. But for all of the writings found from that extremely prolific time, only a few records are presented as proof. And even those don't hold up to scrutiny. So claim Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy, authors of "The Laughing Jesus: Religious Lies and Gnostic Wisdom". They present a fairly solid... There is a Loving "God" Because I Could Respect no Other

While coming back from a fishing trip in the mountains east of Phoenix this week end, my friends and I came upon a motorcycle accident just seconds after it happened. Two people lay motionless in the middle of the winding two-lane road we were on. We ran up to offer assistance but it was too late. All of us had cell phones, and were trying to call 911. Two other people arrived at the site and tried to call as well, but because of the mountainous terrain, no one was getting a signal. Neither lane... Sign in to see full entry.

Be Active and Choose the Future That is Yours

We’re very near the beginning of a new year. The future that we want is there before us, just waiting. Like a sculptor who carves away marble, allowing the sculpture inside to be set free, we too can carve away the unwanted time and space, allowing the future that we want to be set free. Of course, the future comes with or without our involvement. If we choose the passive route, then we are at the mercy of events, like a dinghy thrown about by waves on the sea. But if we choose the active route,... Sign in to see full entry.

Love, and Do as You Will - How Much Easier Can it Be?

Christian ethics. For some, these terms are mutually exclusive. For me, the term should be singular, not plural. For in reality what St. Augustine said is, in my mind, the only Christian ethic. Actually, it is also the only Muslim ethic, the only Jewish ethic, the only human ethic: “Love and do what you will.” I try very hard to live by this statement. Am I always successful? No. Sometimes Ego sneaks up on me when I least expect it (which is when I actually should be most expecting it because... Sign in to see full entry.

Death, Destruction, Dishonesty - Just Another Day in the World

So, here it is December 28 th. There are four days left in year 2005 (counting today). And while the coming new year and its celebration always brings with it glimmers of hope, the stark reality is that we are about ready to start another year of hate and death. How bad is it? Well, without evening trying I bet I can come up with 10 different examples of hate, negative stories or articles on untimely deaths from this year. As a matter of fact, I bet I could easily come up with enough different... Sign in to see full entry.

The Bible is Real. No it's Not! Yes it is! No it's Not. Yes it is!

People argue all the time about the inerrancy of the Bible. Some argue it is the word of God, handed down from his mouth for our use. Some argue that it is not meant to be his exact words, but a series of allegories with spiritual meanings for us to learn. Of course, even for those who think the Bible is real and accurate, there is dissension among the ranks. Because even if the Bible is truly the exact word of God, there are so many different ways to interpret various verses within, that... Sign in to see full entry.

By Working on Everything But Ourselves, We Become Sloths

The last of the seven deadly sins is sloth. Being slothful is defined as a disinclination to work or exert yourself. So it is all about inactivity. While each of the other sins, those six other actions that “miss the mark” with regard to being love, are obvious, being slothful is not. It is devious in its insiduousness because many of us work very hard at what we do. We have jobs and families that need to be taken care of, and we stay busy doing just that. But that is the problem. We stay busy... Sign in to see full entry.
