When We Are "Awake" We Know All

I have been searching for a way of explaining how I know what I know with regard to God and spirituality. Some of it I learned through reading of course. But some I just know. And I have known it for as long as I can remember. This “knowing” got me in trouble in Sunday school as a child when I would question things taught to me. We Are All Divine

I just finished reading Beyond Belief: The Secret Gospel of Thomas by Elaine Pagels. In it she talks about the Secret Book of John (Apocryphon of John) and its explaination of the story of Adam and Eve. The Secret Book suggests that the story of Eve's birth from Adam's side is the story of the awakening of our spiritual capacity - our oneness with God. Organized Religion Complicates God

I have recently had to write a speech for my Toastmasters club on my feelings about religion. Here is the edited version: What do I really think about religion? Three people said some things that help to sum up my feelings on the topic: Mark Twain said: Man is the only animal that loves his neighbor as himself and cuts his throat if his religion isn’t straight. Faith is Unnecessary

I’m a simple man with a background in Lutheran and Methodist teachings. And like many, I’ve had problems with some of the things I learned during my religious exposure. One of the problems I have had is in the need to have faith. From my point of view faith, from a religious perspective at least, is unnecessary. All you need is love.
