I know it’s happened to you. I know that each of you have experienced it. Whether watching a movie, listening to music, reading a book, or looking at an incredible piece of art, a feeling will begin to well up inside of you. For some, it starts in your toes and moves quickly up your body. For others, it seems to start everywhere at once. There is a tingling that accompanies this warm feeling, and it comes in small waves, moving in quick bursts. Before you know it something ever so slight begins... Sign in to see full entry.

"There is Light Within a Person of Light." - We Are All Persons of Light
“There is light within a person of light, and it shines on the whole world. If it does not shine, it is dark." This statement by Yeshua, found in the Gospel of Thomas, is a response to questions from his disciples about where he is, because they want to go there and be like him. I think this statement is also a pretty straightforward call to action. Within each of us is a spark of divinity. Each of us then, is a person of light. Our job, based on Yeshua’s statement, is to let our light shine on... Sign in to see full entry.

“Resistance is futile” – The Borg, Star Trek: Next Generation TV series
“Resistance is futile.” While this is a statement made famous by the Borg, a race hell-bent on assimilation of all life forms on all worlds in all universes, it is also a very true statement for us in this universe, on this world. From a spiritual perspective, the moment we begin to resist is the moment we begin our downfall. Love flows throughout the universe(s). It is a part of each and every thing that we come into contact with. If Love is allowed to flow, then energy flows with ease and each... Sign in to see full entry.

Here is How I Would Like to See the World:
Upon arriving at school and settling into their classroom little Johnny and Dolly, along with the rest of the class, take a minute for silent reflection. Little Billy, whose family is atheist, takes the minute to think about how much fun it was the night before when his family volunteered as servers at the local shelter. Johnny and Dolly’s father Mike arrives at work and stops by briefly at the relaxation room his company provides. He grabs a cup of coffee and thinks about the upcoming day’s... Being Humble is a Sign of Spiritual Maturity
Being humble. The dictionary lists the first definition for the word as “marked by meekness”. For many the word meek means to be easily imposed on or to be submissive. But the first definition of meek is listed as, “to show patience and humility” and to “be gentle”. Yeshua didn’t say “the meek shall inherit the earth,” because he felt that those who were easily imposed on or those who were submissive had the right idea. He said it because being humble is the sign of one who understands that... Sign in to see full entry.

A Favorite From Sufi Master Ibn Arabi (1165-1240)
My heart has become capable of every form: It is a pasture for Gazelles And a monestary for Christian monks, And a temple for idols, And the pilgrim's Ka'ba And the tablets of the Torah, And the Book of Koran. I follow the religion of love: Whatever way love's camel takes, That is my religion, my faith. - Note that this was written in the late 12th or early 13th century Sign in to see full entry.

Compassion is Always the Right Response
Inspired by Jomei and a comment to a recent post of his. I’m of the belief that there are no instances where compassion is not the right response. Yeshua told us to love our neighbors as ourselves. He also told us to love our enemies, to bless those that curse us, to do good to those who hate us, and to pray for those who despitefully use us and persecute us. There are similar statements from masters in other faiths. In all of these, there are no “buts”, “excepts” or conditions in any of these... Sign in to see full entry.

What if Forgiveness Weren't Necessary?
Forgiveness. Everyone understands what forgiveness is. Everyone at some point has offered forgiveness or has asked for forgiveness. But what if forgiveness wasn’t necessary? Ever. It can happen, but probably not anytime soon. The whole concept of forgiveness is only necessary because of Ego. Ego always feels slighted or wronged about something. Anything that gives even the slightest appearance of attacking the all-powerful and all-full-of-itself Ego, requires forgiveness by the perpetrator. And... Sign in to see full entry.

Those Who Aren't Actively Changing the World, Have No Right to Whine
I wrote the following because today I am struggling with being a spiritual person today. I'm tired of listening to people whine about how terrible things are and yet do nothing about it. So here's my post. Forgive my letting the light fade a bit today: Being a follower of Yeshua, or even just being a good person, is an “ active ” undertaking. One cannot be a good person or a follower of Yeshua and be passive. One cannot sit idly by and watch as immoral or evil acts occur, or injustices are... Sign in to see full entry.

Ego and Ignorance Are the Same Thing
I was reading an interview recently with Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, a highly respected Tibetan Buddhist master, and he mentioned that ego and ignorance are different names for the same thing. That really got me thinking about it because I had never heard it put that way before. And you know what? He is right. Ignorance is just another name for Ego. Think about the foolish things that we can do and the foolish emotions we can exhibit. Ego, i.e. Ignorance, is behind the vast majority of them.... Sign in to see full entry.
